GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Myna Buckey wins home meet, leads team to victory

Foothill’s Myna Buckley won a 2.5-mile race Wednesday to lead the Falcons to victory in an eight-team home meet.

Buckley crossed the line in 16 minutes, 24.1 seconds, ahead of Basic’s Raquel Chavez (16:31.6).

Foothill had three of the top five finishers and scored 24 points. Basic was second with 49 points, and Valley was third (83).

Makenzie Flynn of Foothill was third in 16:36.1, and teammate Erica Williams was fourth (16:42.1). Valley’s Isabella Davis was fifth with a time of 16:49.1.

Tesfay, Roadrunners win four-team meet

At Del Sol, Eden Tesfay finished first, and Tech swept the top four places to win a four-team meet with 16 points.

Tesfay won the 3.1-mile race in 19:28.9, and teammate Diamond Morris was second in a time of 19:35 for the Roadrunners.

Moapa Valley was second with 49 points, followed by Chaparral (76). Del Sol did not field a complete team.

Jaqueline Canas-Rodriguez of Tech was third (19:55.9), and Eri Leong was fourth (20:18.5) for the Roadrunners.

Moapa Valley’s Matilda Thompson finished fifth, crossing in 20:34.8.
