CROSS COUNTRY: Centennial takes boys, girls meets at Floyd Lamb Park

Connor Menger won a 3.1-mile race on Wednesday to help Centennial’s boys cross country team to victory in a five-team meet at Floyd Lamb Park.

Centennial finished with 24 points, and Shadow Ridge was second with 44. Sierra Vista (79) finished third.

Menger was the only runner to break the 18-minute barrier, as he crossed the line in 17 minutes, 57 seconds.

Shadow Ridge’s Josiah Caprine was second in 18:12, followed by Centennial’s Alex Miller (18:21). Dane Cobb of Shadow Ridge was fourth in 18:31, with Nick Hansen of Centennial fifth at 18:34.

Bulldog girls claim five-team meet

At Floyd Lamb Park, Alexis Gourrier won the 3.1-mile race, and Centennial had four of the top five finishers to breeze to victory in a five-team meet.

Centennial scored 20 points to finish well ahead of second-place Shadow Ridge (55). Sierra Vista was third with 71, followed by Cimarron-Memorial (93).

Gourrier crossed in 19:26 to win by more than a minute ahead of Centennial teammate Kayla Roberts (20:48). Delani Dietrich was third for the Bulldogs in 20:49.

Sierra Vista’s Sarriah Brown finished fourth in 21:02, and Centennial’s Julia Weaver was fifth (21:15).
