SOFTBALL: Severance, Diamondbacks top Centennial

Winning pitcher Holly Severance had a three-run double in a five-run fifth inning Friday as Desert Oasis’ softball team stunned host Centennial, 9-6.

Maggie Shepard went 3-for-5 with an RBI, and Elsy Guzman was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Diamonbacks, who led 9-1 going into the bottom of the seventh before the Bulldogs made it interesting.

Hannah Jones went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Angel Love was 2-for-3 with a double for Centennial. Skyler Ball was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Centennial.

Las Vegas 4, Eldorado 3 — At Las Vegas, Sabrina Saldate’s RBI single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Arienn Ackerman with the winning run as the Wildcats rallied to edge the Sundevils.

Ackerman reached on a bunt single, advanced to second base on a passed ball and made it to third base on a infield single by Cheyenne Porcella. Las Vegas trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh.

Samantha Taylor tossed a five-hitter for the Wildcats.

Daylon Brooks had a double and two RBIs for Eldorado, which led 3-0 after one inning.

Bishop Gorman 6, Durango 4 — At Gorman, Ashley Witucki went 3-for-4 with a triple, and the Gaels scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to break a 3-3 tie and defeat the Trailblazers.

Kasey Bilodeau went 2-for-2 with a double for Gorman.

Trinity Valentine was 3-for-3 for Durango.

Liberty 16, Basic 7 — At Basic, Cali Christopher went 4-for-6 with a double, and Marisa Olmos finished 3-for-5 with four RBIs as the Patriots pulled away late to beat the Wolves.

Morgan LaNeve homered for Liberty, which led 8-7 before scoring three runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to break the game open.

Mikayla Berg was 2-for-3 with a double, and Lexie Edmunds went 2-for-4 to lead Basic.

Rancho 13, Foothill 2 — At Foothill, Samantha Pochop allowed two runs on five hits and fanned nine as the Rams routed the Falcons.

Jahnae Davis-Houston had two doubles and two RBIs, and Gianna Carosone doubled and drove in two runs for Rancho. Pochop and Alisa Blevins also finished with two RBIs for the Rams.

Sarah Maddox’s two-run homer in the first inning gave the Falcons an early lead.

Faith Lutheran 13, Bonanza 2 — At Faith Lutheran, Mosie Foley tossed a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple and two RBIs as the Crusaders routed the Bengals in five innings.

Ryleigh Gilchrist was 4-for-4 with three RBIs, and Ellie Fried was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Faith Lutheran.

Brianna Hernandez-Silva was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI for Bonanza.

Sunrise Mountain 3, Virgin Valley 2 — At Sunrise Mountain, Andrea Garner struck out three consecutive batters with runners on the corners in the seventh inning as the Miners held off the Bulldogs.

Calee Clem’s RBI single pulled Virgin Valley within 3-2 and put runners at first and third with no outs in the seventh.

Garner finished with nine strikeouts and no walks and went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs.

Boulder City 16, Chaparral 3 — At Chaparral, Lily Osman was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead the Eagles past the Cowboys in five innings.

Jordan Moorhead was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Jerra Hinson had a two-run home run for Boulder City.

Sophia Devine was 2-for-2 with a double for Chaparral, and teammate Alexis Montoya had a two-run double.

Sierra Vista 11, Tech 4 — At Sierra Vista, Madison Hiu tripled and had three RBIs, and Harmony Dominguez tripled and had two RBIs as the Mountain Lions topped the Roadrunners.

Winning pitcher Kalei Watkins threw four perfect innings with five strikeouts for Sierra Vista, which led 9-0 after four innings.

Haylee Makue-Vasconcello singled twice for Tech.

Silverado 18, Canyon Springs 0 — At Silverado, Allison Harper spun a five-inning one-hitter and struck out five as the Skyhawks routed the Pioneers.

Alessandra Ponce went 3-for-3 with a double and five RBIs for Silverado.

Cimarron-Memorial 23, Clark 0 — At Cimarron, Kaeley Roldan tossed a three-hitter and went 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and four RBIs as the Spartans routed the Chargers in five innings.

Alyssa Karpinski was 4-for-4 with four runs and three RBIs, and Maraya Valdez was 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs for Cimarron. Diona Whitley was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs for the Spartans.

Green Valley 24, Valley 0 — At Valley, Tyre Hilton and Samantha Loving each went 4-for-6 with a double and three RBIs as the Gators routed the Vikings in five innings.

Isabel Herrera was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs for Green Valley, which led 21-0 after two innings.

Del Sol 17, Desert Pines 7 — At Del Sol, the Dragons used a seven-run fourth inning to down the Jaguars in a six-inning game.

Maiya Richardson had four RBIs for Desert Pines.

Pahranagat Valley 12, Western 8 — At Western, Brook Higbee went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI to help the Panthers top the Warriors.

Alyson Egbert was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Madison Harris went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI for Pahranagat Valley.

Jennessa Dunton was 3-for-3 with two home runs, including a grand slam, for Western. Dunton also tripled and had six RBIs. Mireya Villela was 4-for-5 with a double and two runs for the Warriors.

Lake Mead 15-21, Agassi Prep 7-2 — At Doolittle Park, Kayla Freund and Lauryn Freund combined on a five-inning one-hitter in the nightcap as the Eagles swept the Stars.

In the opener, Josey White was 4-for-4 with a home run, a double, four runs and four RBIs as the Eagles rallied from an early 3-1 deficit. Jacea Tillman was 3-for-5 with an RBI for Lake Mead.

In the second game, White was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Kayla Freund went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Lake Mead, which drew 23 walks and had five batters hit by a pitch.

Ayanna McClendon was 2-for-2 with two triples and two RBIs in the opener for Agassi Prep.

Laughlin 22-15, The Meadows 21-5 — At The Meadows, Lori Morgan and Mary Smith combined on a five-inning four-hitter in the nightcap as the Cougars swept the Mustangs.

Amanda Hansen homered in the first game for The Meadows.

Sandy Valley 17, Tonopah 10 — At Tonopah, Samantha Cripe had four hits and three RBIs to help the Sidewinders defeat the Muckers.

Esmerelda Solano-Sanchez added three hits for Sandy Valley.

Belle Gonzalez had two hits and two RBIs, and Sandra Dunn added three RBIs for Tonopah.

The second game of the doubleheader was postponed because of rain.
