SOFTBALL: Sixth-inning rally lifts Legacy past Gaels

Melissa Martinez singled home Clarissa Lona with the go-ahead run during a seven-run sixth inning that lifted Legacy’s softball team to a 12-10 win over visiting Bishop Gorman on Saturday.
The Longhorns trailed 10-5 before having eight of their first nine batters of the sixth inning collect a hit, including Martinez’s single to left that broke a 10-10 tie. Kellie Nelson scored an insurance run on an error two batters later.
Lona finished 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Alyssa Sotelo was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Legacy.
Hannah Gondini went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double, three runs and two RBIs for Gorman, and teammate Morgan Blanner went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.
Desert Oasis 7, Cimarron-Memorial 6 — At Cimarron, Maggie Shepard scored the eventual winning run on a bases-loaded walk to Izriah Hodson with two outs in the top of the sixth inning as the Diamondbacks edged the Spartans.
Hodson was 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Holly Severance went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI for Desert Oasis. Meaghan McInerney was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Meagan Anders and Paisley Garcia each went 2-for-3 for the Diamondbacks.
Rosie Del Rosario was 3-for-4 with a home run, and Amber Rhett went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Cimarron. Rebecca Johnson was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Juliana Reyes was 2-for-3 for Cimarron.
Shadow Ridge 17, Durango 0 — At Durango, Kate Dennis went 4-for-4 with a home run, a double and five RBIs as the Mustangs routed the Trailblazers in five innings.
Raelyn Kendall was 4-for-4 with a double, and Alisha Schultz went 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs for Shadow Ridge.
Mia Voges tossed a three-hitter and struck out eight for Shadow Ridge.
