Robinson helps Wildcat girls win Valley Relays

Maritzia Robinson finished in the top five in three field events Saturday to help the Las Vegas girls track team to victory in the Valley Relays at Valley.
Robinson and Mojave’s Charleea Armstrong tied for first in the high jump, each clearing 4 feet, 8 inches.
Robinson also tied for third in the triple jump and placed fifth in the long jump for the Wildcats, who led a 13-team field with 102 points. Desert Oasis was second with 70, followed by Valley with 66.
Valley’s Eimainei Thomas-Palmer won the triple jump with an effort of 35-5 and was second in the long jump. She also ran a leg on the Vikings’ 400 relay team that won in 49.82 seconds.
In the boys meet, Frank Harris cleared 6-8 to win the high jump and help Basic share the team title with Las Vegas.
Both the Wolves and Wildcats had 74 points to top a 14-team field. Desert Oasis was third with 67, followed by Silverado with 60 and Mojave with 51.
Desert Oasis’ Nick Benham swept the throws, winning the shot put (49-9) and discus (150-6).
Canyon Springs’ Isaiah Johnson won the triple jump with an effort of 42-9 and the long jump with an effort of 22-0¼.
