BASEBALL: Basic manufactures run in the seventh, nips Las Vegas

Garrett Giles’ sacrifice fly with one out in the top of the seventh inning plated Ryne Nelson with the deciding run as Basic’s baseball team edged host Las Vegas 5-4 on Monday.

Nelson led off the seventh with a walk and stole second before moving to third on a flyout.

Giles finished 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Trent Bixby and Christian Rivero each went 2-for-4 with a double for Basic.

Foothill 2, Valley 1 — At Foothill, Tyler Kara and Trentin Price combined on a four-hitter to help the Falcons nip the Vikings.

Kelton McCall’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth inning scored Kelton Lachelt to break a 1-1 tie, and the Falcons held on.

Price threw 2 2/3 innings of hitless relief, striking out four.

Valley’s Jacob Cruz tossed a five-hitter.

Clark 9, Tech 8 — At Tech, Matthew Thompson’s RBI single with two outs in the top of the seventh inning drove in the eventual winning run as the Chargers edged the Roadrunners.

With the score tied 7-7 heading into the seventh, the Chargers got their first two runners on and moved them into scoring position with a bunt.

Stefan McLin’s sacrifice fly gave Clark the lead before Thompson’s RBI single.

The Roadrunners got a run back in the bottom of the seventh, but Clark’s Thomas Campbell struck out Trevor Kephart with runners at second and third to end the game.

McLin finished 2-for-4 with a double and triple. Thomspon went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Guy Tannenbaum went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Clark.

Jayce Otis went 3-for-5, and Chandler Gehring was 2-for-4 for Tech. Kephart was 2-for-5 for the Roadrunners.

Mojave 14, Desert Pines 12 — At Desert Pines, Otto Hernandez was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, three runs and three RBIs as the Rattlers held off the Jaguars in a game that was called after six innings because of darkness.

Scott Wilson went 2-for-4 with a double, and Kevin Gutierrez and Jacob Davis each went 2-for-3 for Mojave.

Tony Fields was 2-for-5 with two doubles for Desert Pines.

Sierra Vista 6, Centennial 3 — At Sierra Vista, Jhared Gonzalez and David Perez combined on a four-hitter to lead the Mountain Lions by the Bulldogs.

Gonzalez struck out seven in five innings.

Blake Kaplan was 2-for-4 with a double, and Cooper Kitrel went 2-for-3 for Sierra Vista.

Bonanza 10, Spring Valley 7 — At Bonanza, Torren Brozovich went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs as the Bengals rallied from a 6-3 deficit in the fifth inning and topped the Grizzlies.

Micah Higa and Danny Ruiz each went 2-for-3 with a double, and Jay DeSoto was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI for Bonanza.

Bryce Bullock was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Jaxson Otis went 3-for-4 for Spring Valley. Jonathan Bakken went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Grizzlies.

Arbor View 9, Faith Lutheran 5 — At Arbor View, Jayce Gardner went 3-for-3 with three runs, and the Aggies scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 5-5 tie and top the Crusaders.

Logan Santos was 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, and Nick Quintana went 1-for-3 with three RBIs for Arbor View.

Zack Trageton was 2-for-3 with a run for Faith Lutheran.

Rancho 8, Canyon Springs 0 — At Rancho, Angel Walker went 2-for-3 with a double and a run, and the Rams used a six-run second inning to top the Pioneers.

Braulio Santiaguin was 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs for Rancho.

Zack Gardner and Giovani Benuto each went 2-for-4 for Canyon Springs.

Green Valley 11, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Drake Maningo went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, two runs and three RBIs as the Gators defeated the Sundevils.

Jimmy Montiel went 3-for-5 with a two RBIs, and Carter Gehlken went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Green Valley, which broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the fifth inning.

Tyler Heiny and Jake Empey combined on a three-hitter for the Gators.

Palo Verde 13, Boulder City 2 — At Palo Verde, Tucker Thomason went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs and three RBIs to help the Panthers defeat the Eagles in five innings.

E.J. Arnold went 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Kristian Garcia was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs for Palo Verde. Nolan Erickson was 1-for-2 with a double, two runs and three RBIs for the Panthers.

Nolan Desantis was 2-for-3 with two runs for Boulder City.
