GIRLS TRACK: Atkerson, Neff lead Falcons by Silverado

Hannah Atkerson and Rachel Neff each won two individual events Tuesday to help host Foothill’s girls track team to a 106-72 win over Silverado.

Atkerson swept the throws, winning the discus with an effort 97 feet, 5 inches and the shot put with an effort of 29-6½.

Neff won the 200-meter dash in 26.98 seconds and the 400 in 64.33.

Silverado’s Mikayla Kelley won the 100 in 12.47, the long jump with a distance of 16-3, and the triple jump with a distance of 34-7½.

Legacy tops Gorman

At Bishop Gorman, C’Aree Stevenson won the 200 (25.8) and long jump (16-1) to lead Legacy to an 82-77 win over the Gaels.

Alexys Saiz won the 300 hurdles (48.36) and was second in the long jump, and teammate Tyrah Florence won the 800 (2:41.53) and was third in the 400 for the Longhorns.

Gorman’s Jill McPherson-Kellogg won the discus (109-1) and shot put (31-1).

Centennial defeats Palo Verde

At Centennial, Elize Larsen and Alexis Gourrier each won two individual events to help the Bulldogs to an 82-50 win over Palo Verde.

Larsen won the 100 in 12.48 and the 200 in 25.49.

Gourrier won the 400 in 58.67 and the 3,200 in 11:18.46.

McDermott leads Trojans to victory in five-team meet

At Pahrump, Meghan McDermott won four individual events, and broke an eight-year-old school record in the 100 hurdles, to lift the Trojans to victory in a five-team meet.

McDermott won the 100 hurdles in 15.9. The senior also was first in the triple jump (31-2½), the long jump (14-4½) and the high jump (5-0) for the Trojans, who finished with 144 points.

Caeli Havel won the shot put (32-5) and the discus (89-6) for Pahrump.

Del Sol was second with 74 points, followed by Desert Pines (62), Virgin Valley (34) and Beatty (21).

Mojave wins three-team meet

At Spring Valley, Raven Williams and Tamara Frezell each won two individual events to lead Mojave to victory in a three-team meet.

Mojave had 68.17 points. Spring Valley was second with 66.08, followed by Western with 38.75.

Williams took the 200 in 26.7 and the 400 in 61.3. Frezell captured the 800 in 2:38.7 and the 1,600 in 6:03.5.

Spring Valley’s Vaden Mangler won the triple jump with an effort of 26-7 and was among four athletes to tie for first in the high jump at 4-6.

Western’s Destiny Gonzalez tied for first in the high jump and won the long jump with an effort of 14-0¾.

Cougars roll to win in tri-meet

At Coronado, Ava Nicholson and Logan Linehan each placed first in two individual events as the Cougars rolled to victory in a three-team meet.

Nicholson won the 100 (12.58) and 200 (26.37), and Linehan took the 300 hurdles (47.72) and tied for first in the high jump (5-0) for Coronado, which had 128 points.

Eldorado was second with 30, and Canyon Springs had 21.

Eldorado’s Katherine Hernandez won the shot put (35-7) and discus (102-4).
