VOLLEYBALL: Elliott, Gators hold off Basic

Dustin Elliott had 17 kills and 13 digs Wednesday to help Green Valley’s boys volleyball team hold off visiting Basic, 25-18, 25-14, 22-25, 22-25, 15-10.
James Reed added 17 kills and 12 digs, and Brian Barkemeyer-Katz had 50 assists and three blocks for the Gators.
Brad McDonald had 15 kills to lead the Wolves, and teammate Matt Gajeski added 34 assists.
Coronado 3, Rancho 1 — At Rancho, Justice Balanay-Flores had 62 assists and 15 digs as the Cougars topped the Rams, 25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 26-24.
Trey Hunter added 12 kills and three blocks, and teammate Nik Purser had 14 kills and 20 digs for Coronado.
Lamont Traylor led Rancho with 19 kills, four aces and 26 digs. Jeffrey Camal had 25 digs, and Brennan Berti had six kills and three blocks for the Rams.
Chaparral 3, Tech 1 — At Chaparral, Isai Barrios had 14 kills to help the Cowboys to a 25-11, 22-25, 25-11, 25-10 victory over the Roadrunners.
Cesar Mendoza had nine kills and 17 digs, and Ever Favela added 12 digs and three aces for Chaparral.
Tech’s Collin Faught had 13 assists, and Eric Sebastian added 11 digs for the Roadrunners.
Centennial 3, Desert Oasis 1 — At Desert Oasis, Justin Dietrich and Kade Frischknecht each had nine kills to help the Bulldogs to a 25-18, 21-25, 25-14, 25-22 win over the Diamondbacks.
Tommy Felt added five kills and eight digs, and teammate Farries Gardner had five kills and four blocks for Centennial.
Billy Cameron paced Desert Oasis with 17 kills, 12 digs and two aces. Jacob Dufour had nine kills, two aces and two digs, and Josh Sadama had 24 assists for Desert Oasis, which got 14 assists from Tyler Sadama.
Del Sol 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Blane Quitog put down 11 kills, and Anthony Nehme added seven kills and three aces as the Dragons swept the Miners, 25-12, 25-23, 25-13.
Alec Monetemayor had 13 assists and seven aces, and teammate Nate Bryan notched six kills for Del Sol.
Theodore Williams led Sunrise Mountain with eight kills and six digs. Rodney King had 11 digs, and Alfredo Correa had five digs for the Miners.
Bonanza 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Bonanza, Robby Adair had 15 kills and 11 digs to guide the Bengals to a 25-14, 25-15, 25-12 sweep of the Spartans.
Luis Raygoza had 30 assists, and Bronson Duckworth added 10 kills and 10 digs for Bonanza, which got 14 digs from Tyler Simmons.
Cody Brown led Cimarron with 14 digs. Erick Forbush added four kills and two aces, and Fred Tito had four kills for the Spartans.
Foothill 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Shilo Chow supplied 28 assists, four kills and four aces to lead the Falcons to a 25-9, 25-7, 25-10 win over the Sundevils.
Ryen Feldman had nine kills, and Zachary Thompson added six kills and four blocks for Foothill, which got five aces and five digs from Zachary Sangster.
