BASEBALL: Zorne’s hit lifts Skyhawks past Coronado

Blake Zorne singled home Kevin Pindel and Samuel Pope with the tying and winning runs with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning Saturday to lift Silverado’s baseball team to a 9-8 win over visiting Coronado.

The Skyhawks loaded the bases on a walk, a one-out single by James Skelly and a hit batsman. Zorne then singled to right field to plate two runs and end the game.

Zorne was 2-for-4 with a double and the two RBIs for Silverado, which trailed 5-0 entering the bottom of the fourth inning. Skelly was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Anthony Carro and Landen Rowland each went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Cougars, who also got a home run from Corben Bellamy.

Centennial 7, Faith Lutheran 6 — At Centennial, Bryce Rheault was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and pitched two scoreless innings of relief to earn the save as the Bulldogs held off the Crusaders.

Frank Sessa went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI, and Paydon Prescott was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Centennial, which scored seven runs in the second inning to take a 7-1 lead.

Blake Giuliani was 2-for-3 with two runs for Faith Lutheran. Joshua Harmonay, Zack Trageton and Jake Ortega each went 2-for-4 for the Crusaders.

Basic 6, Rancho 0 — At Basic, Trent Bixby tossed a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts and only one walk to lead the Wolves by the Rams.

Ryne Nelson went 3-for-4 with a run, and J.J. Smith was 2-for-3 with a triple for Basic, which also got a solo home run from Bixby.

Anthony Guzman was 2-for-3 for Rancho.

Liberty 7, Canyon Springs 5 — At Liberty, Michael Wong and Ryan Meservey each had an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 5-5 tie and lift the Patriots by the Pioneers.

Omar Ortiz was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs for Liberty, which trailed 5-1 entering the bottom of the fourth.

Jacob Klein went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and Jayzen Ramirez was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Liberty.

Johnny Flores went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Canyon Springs.

Pahrump Valley 10, Desert Pines 3 — At Desert Pines, winning pitcher Bradah Costa struck out 11 in five innings to guide the Trojans by the Jaguars.

Parker Hart went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, and Drew Walker was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Pahrump, which scored eight runs in the fifth inning.

Turner Klingenmeier was 2-for-3 for Desert Pines.

Desert Oasis 13, Sierra Vista 2 — At Sierra Vista, Bryson Stott was 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs to help the Diamondbacks to a five-inning win over the Mountain Lions.

Jason Sharman was 2-for-2 with a double, and Brett Brocoff went 2-for-4 for Desert Oasis, which scored 11 runs in the final two innings.

Kaui Kaleopaa was 2-for-2 for Sierra Vista.

Eldorado 13, Valley 2 — At Valley, Jordan Eldred tossed a six-inning four-hitter, allowing only one earned run and striking out nine, to lead the Sundevils by the Vikings.

Julio Rodarte was 2-for-3 with a double for Eldorado.

Leeland Espinoza-Crawford went 1-for-2 with an RBI for Valley.
