BASEBALL: Eagles’ Koopman throws five-inning perfect game

Peyton Koopman fired a five-inning perfect game on Monday as Boulder City’s baseball team beat visiting Virgin Valley, 10-0.
After the first two batters put the ball in play, Koopman struck out the next 12. Cade Anderson then grounded out to short to end the game.
Koopman also went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, three runs and three RBIs.
Alec Mathis was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, and Nolan Desantis was 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs for the Eagles.
Green Valley 4, Liberty 1 — At Green Valley, Matt Gilbertson threw six strong innings, and the Gators scored twice in the bottom of the first en route to the win over the Patriots.
Gilbertson allowed a run on five hits. He struck out four with one walk.
Gilbertson also had an RBI groundout in the first, and the Gators added a run on Gavin Morley’s infield single.
Drake Maningo hit a solo home run to highlight a two-run fourth for Green Valley.
Jacob Rodgers went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Liberty.
Basic 11, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Jack Wold went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBIs to lead the Wolves to the five-inning victory over the Pioneers.
Garrett Giles was 3-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBIs, and Ryne Nelson went 2-for-4 with two runs for Basic, which scored six runs in the third to pull away.
Roger Riley went 2-for-3 with a double, and Trent Bixby added a triple and three RBIs for the Wolves.
C.J. Dornak threw a four-hitter with five strikeouts and one walk to get the win.
Canyon Springs’ Zack Gardner was 2-for-2.
Del Sol 8, Moapa Valley 0 — At Overton, Jorge Costa threw a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks to lead the Dragons over the Pirates.
Cordell Bowie and Zach Trujillo each hit a three-run home run, and Aaron Squires was 3-for-4 with a double for Del Sol.
Anthony Cornwall had a double for Moapa Valley.
Coronado 15, Foothill 7 — At Coronado, Noah Hemphill was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs to help the Cougars beat the Falcons.
Kyle Hall went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Cougars, who led 15-0 before allowing six runs in the top of the fifth.
Silverado 17, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Alex Grafiada fired a five-inning one-hitter, and the Skyhawks scored 11 runs in the top of the fifth to defeat the Sundevils.
Grafiada struck out nine and walked four. He took a no-hitter into the fifth before giving up a one-out single to Dylan Hansen.
Michael Camburn was 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and five RBIs to lead the Silverado offense. Grafiada went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Chase Cortez and Dax Fellows each added two hits, two runs and two RBIs for the Skyhawks.
Rancho 13, Valley 1 — At Rancho, Joey Walls was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and two runs to lead the Rams past the Vikings in five innings.
Miguel Elicerio went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs for Rancho.
Anthony Munoz and Carlos Hernandez combined on a two-hitter for the Rams.
Demario Barnes hit a double for Valley.
Chaparral 19, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, Connor Jarvis went 4-for-5 with a double to help the Cowboys rout the Miners in five innings.
Winning pitcher Eddie Lopez went 3-for-3 with a triple for Chaparral, which scored eight runs in the third to take a 17-1 lead.
Lopez allowed an unearned run on two hits in four innings. He struck out four.
Tech 18, Desert Pines 4 — At Desert Pines, Jayce Otis was 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs to help the Roadrunners roll to the five-inning win over the Jaguars.
Trevor Kephart was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and four RBIs for Tech, which scored 11 runs in the top of the fifth.
Logan Campbell went 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and three runs, and Sean Jones went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs for the Roadrunners.
Alexis Acosta pitched a four-hitter and went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Tech.
