SOFTBALL: Price is right as Virgin Valley walks off with win over Tech

Savannah Price’s double to right-center field with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning plated courtesy runner Kezney Crompton with the winning run as Virgin Valley’s softball team nipped Tech, 4-3 in Mesquite on Wednesday.
Adri Wakefield led off the seventh with a single. Crompton ran for Wakefield and advanced to second on Calee Clem’s ground out before Price got the winning hit.
Wakefield was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI and tossed a two-hitter with four strikeouts for the Bulldogs.
Las Vegas 7, Liberty 5 — At Las Vegas, Summer Horn went 2-for-3 with two doubles, and the Wildcats scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally by the Patriots.
Melina Fabian was 2-for-4 with two runs, and Sabrina Saldate went 2-for-4 for Las Vegas.
Breanna Alvarez was 2-for-3 with two triples and two RBIs for Liberty, which scored four runs in the top of the sixth to take a 5-3 lead.
Chaparral 11, Del Sol 9 — At Del Sol, Nayeli Rivas went 2-for-3 with two doubles as the Cowboys rallied from a 7-5 fourth-inning deficit to down the Dragons.
Alex Montoya was 2-for-4 for Chaparral, which still trailed 7-6 in the fifth inning when second baseman Sara Living snared a line drive and doubled a runner off of third base to turn the tide.
Chaparral scored twice in the sixth to take the lead and tacked on three more in the seventh.
Moapa Valley 5, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, Daesha Stastny tossed a two-hitter as the Pirates defeated the Miners.
Mercedes Gale had two hits, and teammate Devony Cooper supplied a two-run single for Moapa Valley.
Zoey Ruiz had an RBI single for Sunrise Mountain.
Silverado 9, Valley 1 — At Silverado, Meleah Rivera tossed a four-hitter to lead the Skyhawks by the Vikings.
Megan Johnson was 2-for-4, including a two-run double as part of a four-run fourth inning for Silverado. Sarah Ford and Katherine Dimaya each added two hits for the Skyhawks.
Coronado 12, Green Valley 0 — At Coronado, Brooke Younie went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, and Tatum Spangler was 3-for-4 with two RBIs as the Cougars topped the Gators in five innings.
Jaiden Johnson was 2-for-2 with two triples and an RBI, and Ashley Ward went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and two RBIs for Coronado. Basia Query was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for the Cougars.
Coronado pitcher Jillian James tossed a two-hitter.
Foothill 20, Basic 7 — At Foothill, Alexia Campbell belted a grand slam and had five RBIs as the Falcons outslugged the Wolves in five innings.
Jordan Corn homered, tripled, scored three runs and had two RBIs for Foothill. Alexis Farias added three hits, including a double, two runs and two RBIs for the Falcons.
Mikayla Berg hit a grand slam for Basic.
Boulder City 17, Desert Pines 0 — At Boulder City, Bailey Bennett-Jordan tossed a five-inning one-hitter and struck out nine as the Eagles routed the Jaguars.
Charlene Masterson had three hits and three RBIs, and Bennett-Jordan added three hits and two RBIs for Boulder City, which scored 10 runs in the first inning.
Eldorado 22, Canyon Springs 0 — At Eldorado, Heather Holman spun a five-inning two-hitter with 10 strikeouts as the Sundevils routed the Pioneers.
Daylon Brooks was 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run, and four RBIs for Eldorado, which got a single and a homer from Jonna White.
