BASEBALL: Dornak helps Wolves edge Coronado

Basic’s C.J. Dornak struck out Jeffrey Ewing with the tying run at second base in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Wolves held on for a 7-6 road win over Coronado on Monday.

Corben Bellamy’s two-out RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning cut the Basic lead to 7-6 before Dornak closed the door.

Trever Berg struck out nine batters in five innings to pick up the win.

Roger Riley’s two-run single in the fifth gave Basic a 5-4 lead, and they wouldn’t trail again.

Riley was 2-for-4 with a run, and Garrett Giles went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for the Wolves. Ryne Nelson and Gehrig Timmons each added two hits for Basic.

Anthony Carro was 4-for-4 with two triples, and Garett Lake went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and four RBIs for Cougars.

Northridge (Colo.) 13, Durango 11 — At Durango, the Grizzlies scored three runs in the seventh inning then plated two in the ninth to rally past the Trailblazers.

Chance Eben doubled and tripled to lead Northridge, which also got doubles from Jared Hinrichs and Korbin Reed.

Josh Barry went 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI to lead Durango.

Adam Niederman tripled, and Tait Ludwick went 2-for-3 with three runs scored for the Trailblazers.

Liberty 13, Eldorado 2 — At Eldorado, Jayzen Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a double, two stolen bases with a run and an RBI to lead the Patriots over the Sundevils in six innings.

Omar Ortiz was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Stavros Diamandis went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run for Liberty. Zack Reed struck out eight in four innings to earn the win.

Trevor Swain was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs for Eldorado.

Green Valley 17, Rancho 1 — At Rancho, the Gators scored 10 runs in the first inning and rolled to the five-inning win over the Rams.

Jake Leonard went 2-for-2 with a homer and four RBIs to lead Green Valley. Austin Primack was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Jimmy Montiel went 2-for-3 with two runs for the Gators, who were helped by five walks and four hit batters.

Boulder City 19, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, Peyton Koopman went 4-for-5 with a double, a homer, three runs and two RBIs to help the Eagles to the five-inning win over the Miners.

Aaron Kehoe was 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBIs for Boulder City, which had 21 hits. Nolan Desantis and Austin Wishard each added a double and a home run, and Patrick Hood had a home run and three RBIs for the Eagles.

Jake Hubel thew a two-hitter to get the win. He struck out nine and walked four.

Del Sol 21, Western 3 — At Del Sol, Cordell Bowie went 2-for-4 with a triple, a home run and four RBIs to help the Dragons to the five-inning win over the Warriors.

Zach Trujillo and Dylan Aguirre each went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Del Sol, which scored six runs in the first and 10 in the second.

Stanley Natale gave up three hits in four innings to earn the win.

Las Vegas 10, Valley 0 — At Las Vegas, Noel Perez threw a two-hitter with five strikeouts and two walks to lead the Wildcats to a five-inning victory over the Vikings.

Jason Herrera went 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs for Las Vegas, and Hector Perez had a triple for the Wildcats.

Silverado 10, Foothill 0 — At Foothill, James Skelly threw a four-hit shutout to lead the Skyhawks past the Falcons in six innings.

Skelly allowed four hits, fanned seven and walked two.

Michael Camburn, Chase Cortez and Kevin Pindel each doubled, Alex Grafiada added a two-run triple for Silverado. Michael Janosik and Blake Zorn each drove in three runs for the Skyhawks.

Jack Fredericksen doubled for the Falcons.

Arbor View 17, Tech 1 — At Arbor View, Joe Fitzhugh went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Nick Quintana went 1-for-2 with a double, three runs and three RBIs as the Aggies routed the Roadrunners in five innings.

Ryan McHale was 1-for-1 with a double and three RBIs, and Parker McHale homered for the Aggies. Dylan Anderson went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Arbor View.

Desert Pines 24, Agassi Prep 4 — At Desert Pines, Juan Castaneda was 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs and seven RBIs to help the Jaguars beat the Stars in five innings.

Castaneda had a three-run homer, and winning pitcher Steven Laureano went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for Desert Pines.

Adelson School 14, Calvary Chapel 4 — At Adelson School, Mordechai Shirit went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead Adelson School to the win.

Ethan Finkelstein earned the victory and added a double and three RBIs for Adelson School.

Christian O’Kelley struck out 10 for Calvary Chapel and also went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Liberty baseball coach Rich Ebarb died Wednesday night, the school confirmed. Ebarb has a long coaching resume in Southern Nevada.
