GIRLS BASKETBALL: Todd hits late free throw, lifts Bulldogs by Desert Pines

Briana Todd made 1 of 2 free throws with four seconds left to play Monday to lift Virgin Valley's girls basketball team to a 51-50 win over Desert Pines in Mesquite.

Todd missed the second free throw, but the Jaguars committed a turnover and didn't get a last shot.

Spencer Green had 16 points, and Todd scored 15 for the Bulldogs, who moved one game ahead of Desert Pines for second place in the Sunrise League. Emma Barnum added 12 points for Virgin Valley.

Jordan Bailey led Desert Pines with 15 points.

Mojave 37, Pahrump Valley 19 — At Mojave, Savannah Blanchard-Davis hit eight 3-pointers and had 26 points as the Rattlers downed the Trojans.

Mojave trailed 8-1 after one quarter, but outscored Pahrump 20-2 in the second quarter.

Lauren Ashford and Isabelle Meza each scored six points to lead Pahrump.

Chaparral 56, Boulder City 49 — At Chaparral, Jasmine Martin had 18 points as the Cowboys clinched the Sunrise League title by downing the Eagles.

Alexis Vanstory and Marcia Hawkins each added 13 points for Chaparral, which led 37-28 at the half.

Megan Morton paced Boulder City with 21 points.

Green Valley 68, Coronado 47 — At Green Valley, Brooke Haney scored 24 points as the Gators downed the Cougars.

Yamilei Rodriguez added 11 points for Green Valley, which led 13-2 after one quarter.

Milena Palor had 15 rebounds, and Gwen Garcia had nine points and nine assists for Green Valley.

Ksana Montoya scored eight points to lead Coronado.

Moapa Valley 48, Tech 40 — At Overton, Matilda Thompson scored 15 points to lead the Pirates past the Roadrunners.

Kinlee Marshall added 10 points for Moapa Valley, which led 22-14 at halftime.

Leslie Williams scored 18 points for Tech.

Faith Lutheran 60, Sierra Vista 52 — At Sierra Vista, Madison Bocobo, Sam Caruth and Bryanna Neagle each scored 14 points as the Crusaders defeated the Mountain Lions.

Faith Lutheran led just 27-24 at halftime, but outscored Sierra Vista 22-12 in the third quarter.

Shania Harper had 16 points and 16 rebounds for Sierra Vista. Kayla Smith added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Mountain Lions.

Palo Verde 69, Shadow Ridge 36 — At Shadow Ridge, Paulina Silcox had 17 points to lead the Panthers in a rout of the Mustangs.

Kaylee Puckett added 10 points for Palo Verde, which led 45-15 at the half.

Caitlin Covington led Shadow Ridge with 11 points.

Spring Valley 38, Western 25 — At Spring Valley, Kayla Harris had 17 points and six assists as the Grizzlies topped the Warriors.

Alana Walker added nine points for Spring Valley, which led 17-10 at the half.

Destiny Gonzalez paced Western with 12 points.

Clark 46, Cheyenne 37 — At Clark, Marieka Dent scored 12 points to lead the Chargers past the Desert Shields.

Monique Daniels added eight points for Clark, which used a 12-4 second-quarter run to take a 25-14 halftime lead.

Koreyl Godbolt led Cheyenne with 17 points.

Del Sol 42, Sunrise Mountain 31 — At Sunrise Mountain, Ana Ozuna had 14 points as the Dragons defeated the Miners.

Ingrid Zarate-Albarran added 12 points for Del Sol.

Tayaa Pratt led Sunrise Mountain with 11 points, and teammate Ayla Diaz had 10 points.
