BASKETBALL: Memmott helps Virgin Valley boys rout Lincoln County

Andrew Memmott made four 3-pointers in the second quarter and finished with 22 points Saturday to help Virgin Valley's boys basketball team rout Lincoln County, 78-36, in Mesquite.

Marcus Saunders added 11 points for the Bulldogs, who led 47-24 at the half and 65-31 after three quarters.

Samuel Anderson paced the Lynx with 13 points.

Lake Mead 36, Beaver Dam 35 — At Lake Mead, Shay Rutledge hit two free throws with 20 seconds left in overtime to lead the Eagles by the Diamondbacks.

Hunter Harris had 13 points, and Rutledge had nine points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles.

Uriel Perez had 17 points for Beaver Dam, which had its potential game-winning shot blocked by Lake Mead's Jacob Scott in the closing seconds.

Vista Murrieta (Calif.) 69, Liberty 58 — At Los Angeles, Marcus Gonzalez led five double-figure scorers with 13 points and helped the Broncos top the Patriots in the Real Run Winter Classic.

Nate Duran and P.J. Slaughter each had 12 points, and Dwayne Johnson and Michael Carongcong added 10 points apiece for Vista Murrieta, which led 37-30 at the half.

Dyllan Robinson paced Liberty with 19 points. Cameron Burist added 16 points, and Logan Koch scored 13 for Liberty.

GIRLS

Lincoln County 41, Virgin Valley 31 — At Mesquite, Savannah Harr had 14 points to help the Lynx defeat the Bulldogs.

Brynlee Wadsworth added eight points for Lincoln County, which outscored Virgin Valley, 11-2 in the fourth quarter.

Briana Todd led Virgin Valley with 11 points.

Beaver Dam 39, Lake Mead 19 — At Lake Mead, Jailene Hernandez had 17 points to lead the Diamondbacks by the Eagles.

Rebecca Garlick added 10 points for Beaver Dam, which outscored Lake Mead, 17-1 in the fourth quarter.

Marybeth Bruninga paced Lake Mead with six points.
