GIRLS BASKETBALL: Stanley helps Gaels edge Liberty

Raychel Stanley scored 10 points in the fourth quarter and went 3-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final 4.6 seconds Saturday to help second-ranked Bishop Gorman's girls basketball team to a 50-46 win over third-ranked Liberty in the Big City Showdown at South Point Arena.

Stanley scored five points during a 12-2 run that gave the Gaels a 40-37 lead with 5:06 to play.

Liberty rallied to take a 46-45 lead on two free throws by Taylor Turney with 53 seconds left, but Madison Washington's basket just 12 seconds later put Gorman on top to stay.

Stanley blocked Turney's shot on the next Patriots' possession, but Washington missed the front end of a 1-and-1 with 18.8 seconds to go, giving Liberty another chance to take the lead.

The Patriots missed two shots, and Stanley rebounded the second before being fouled.

She hit two free throws with 4.6 seconds left, and after a Liberty turnover, made 1 of 2 shots with 3.4 seconds to go.

Stanley finished with 16 points, and Megan Jacobs scored 10 — including a 35-footer at the end of the third quarter — for Gorman.

Turney had 20 points, and Kaily Kaimikaua scored 11 for Liberty.

Faith Lutheran 67, Pahrump Valley 29 — At Faith Lutheran, Sam Caruth had 26 points to lead the Crusaders by the Trojans.

Heather Hersh added 11 points for Faith Lutheran, which led 36-13 at the half.

Bethany Calvert led Pahrump with 17 points.

Lincoln County 55, Mountain View 26 — At Mountain View, Savannah Harr had 14 points, seven rebounds, six steals and five assists as the Lynx downed the Saints.

Kristal Jackson added 12 points and eight rebounds, and Hannah Hafen scored 12 for Lincoln County, which led 25-15 at the half.

Tayah De'Bouck paced Mountain View with 10 points.

White Pine 63, Lake Mead 18 — At Lake Mead, Ashlyn Huntington scored 22 points as the Bobcats topped the Eagles.

Emily Bischoff added nine points for White Pine, which ended the game on a 34-3 run.

Jacea Tillman paced Lake Mead with 11 points.

Beaver Dam 41, Water Canyon (Utah) 24 — At Littlefield, Ariz., Jailene Hernandez scored 29 points to help the Diamondbacks complete a doubleheader sweep of Water Canyon.

Beaver Dam was a 39-27 winner in the teams' morning game.

Round Mountain 50, Sandy Valley 19 — At Round Mountain, the Knights downed the Sidewinders.
