BOYS BASKETBALL: Williams helps Mountain Lions to victory in varsity debut

Maitland Williams scored 14 points in his first varsity game Monday to help Sierra Vista's boys basketball team hold off visiting Western, 55-49.

Williams, a sophomore who was called up from the junior varsity, led four double-figure scorers for the Mountain Lions, who used a 16-8 third-quarter run to take a 40-30 lead.

Maui SeraJosef added 12 points, and Kevin Tobie scored 11 for Sierra Vista, which also got 10 points from Chris McCoy.

Kwan Carter paced the Warriors with 23 points.

Desert Oasis 76, Shadow Ridge 74 — At Shadow Ridge, Jacob Heese hit a jump shot at the buzzer as the Diamondbacks rallied from 22-4 first quarter deficit to edge the Mustangs.

Aamondae Coleman scored 26 points to lead the Diamondbacks. Tiaga Miyano scored 15, and Drevin Cannon had 13 points for Desert Oasis, which also got 12 points from Heese.

James Fuller scored 19 points, and Jerell Springer had 17 points for Shadow Ridge. Jamal Heidt added 12 points, and Kevin Branch scored 10 for the Mustangs.

Bonanza 80, Word of Life 78 — At Bonanza, Jamal Logan had 21 points as the Bengals held off a late rally by the Eagles.

John Holden added 12 points, and Jacob Perez grabbed 13 rebounds for Bonanza, which led 64-50 after three quarters.

Elijah Hoye poured in 39 points to lead Word of Life. Trent McCall had 14 points, and Jarrett Fisher scored 13 for the Eagles.

Del Sol 60, Virgin Valley 46 — At Mesquite, Jonathan Spearman had 18 points to lead the Dragons by the Bulldogs.

Bo Beagle hit four 3-pointers and had 16 points for Del Sol, which used a 15-6 second-quarter run to take a 30-16 halftime lead.

Hogan Fowles had 18 points, and Zach Barnum scored 10 for Virgin Valley.

Desert Pines 71, Sunrise Mountain 49 — At Sunrise Mountain, Greg Floyd scored 21 points as the Jaguars rolled past the Miners.

Capi Uzan added 16 points, and Trevon Abdullah scored 14 for Desert Pines, which started the game on a 22-7 run.

Tyri White scored 16 points for Sunrise Mountain, and teammate Trevor White added 11 points.

Boulder City 61, Tech 45 — At Boulder City, Justus Greene had 12 points and nine rebounds to lead the Eagles over the Roadrunners.

Peyton Koopman scored 11 points, and Zach Murphy had 10 points for Boulder City.

Justin Mixson had 13 points for Tech, and teammate Jurelle Orbino scored 10 points.

Durango 87, Palo Verde 59 — At Durango, Chase Ruiz scored 22 points to lead the Trailblazers past the Panthers.

Michael Diggins added 15 points, five rebounds and four steals, and Jeremie Portuondo had 14 points and 12 rebounds for Durango, which also got 13 points from Jason Landman.

Taylor Miller scored 37 points for Palo Verde.

Bishop Gorman 82, Legacy 46 — At Legacy, Zach Collins had 16 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocked shots to lead the Gaels by the Longhorns.

Charles O'Bannon added 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists, and Jamal Bey had 16 points for Gorman.

Timothy Jeffries led Legacy with 20 points.

Chaparral 68, Moapa Valley 29 — At Overton, Marcus Hilliard scored 23 points as the Cowboys blitzed the Pirates.

Robin Rosales had 12 points, and Marc Silas scored 10 for Chaparral, which used an 18-3 second-quarter run to lead 39-14 at the half.

Nathaniel Thompson paced Moapa Valley with 14 points.

Clark 75, Pahrump Valley 28 — At Clark, James Bridges scored 15 points as the Chargers routed the Trojans.

Raemone Collins added 13 points, and Jalen Hill and Darius Jackson each scored 10 points for Clark, which led 17-1 after one quarter.

Bryce Odegard scored 11 points to lead the Trojans.

Liberty Baptist 78, Innovations International 58 — At Innovations International, the Eagles posted a victory over Innovations.
