McConnico, Desert Shields beat Chargers

Cheyenne quarterback Anthony McConnico completed 9 of 16 passes for 284 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Desert Shields to a 28-0 road win over Clark on Friday.
Cheyenne's defense held Clark (4-5, 2-5 Sunset League) to 86 yards of offense and five first downs to earn their fourth consecutive shutout.
McConnico hit George Carmona on a bootleg rollout down the right sideline for a 34-yard score to cap Cheyenne's nine-play, 66-yard opening drive in the first quarter.
Zavieh Harrell hauled in an 84-yard TD strike down the left sideline from McConnico early in the second quarter to give the Desert Shields (7-2, 6-1) a 14-0 lead at the half.
Cheyenne's Ashton Lawson scored on an 80-yard screen play from McConnico on the Desert Shields' first play of the second half, and McConnico connected with Deriontae Green for a 45-yard score with 30 seconds left in the third quarter to cap the scoring.
Defensive lineman Elijah Cocker had four sacks, and Carmona provided seven tackles and a sack for Cheyenne, which got an interception from Lawson.
Clark's Robert A'Hearn had six tackles and a fumble recovery, and teammate Bobby Coffman contributed intercepted a pass.
