BOYS BASKETBALL: Moore leads Cheyenne past Canyon Springs

William Moore had 18 points and eight rebounds Wednesday to lead Cheyenne's boys basketball team to a 63-50 home victory over Canyon Springs.

Alahjan Banks added 15 points, five assists and six steals for the Desert Shields, who outscored the Pioneers 25-10 in the third quarter to take a 48-42 laead.

Kavon Williams scored 16 for Cheyenne.

Derrick Legardy had 16 points to pace Canyon Springs.

Silverado 57, Bonanza 50 — At Bonanza, Devin Ross scored 13 of his game-high 21 points in the second half as the Skyhawks rallied to defeat the Bengals and match their win total from last season.

Kris Coe added 12 points, and Matthew Arnold scored 10 for Silverado (1-1), which was 1-23 last season.

Davian Jordan had 17 points to pace Bonanza, which led 32-31 at the half. Jamal Logan added 14 points for the Bengals.

Del Sol 62, Western 44 — At Del Sol, Jonathan Spearman had 20 points and 14 rebounds to lift the Dragons over the Warriors.

Bo Beagle finished with 13 points, and Myles Dunn added 12 points for Del Sol, which outscored Western 22-10 in the third quarter after leading 26-21 at the half.

Coronado 59, Valley 38 — At Coronado, Jake DesJardins scored 15 of his 24 points in the first half as the Cougars built a 29-7 halftime lead and downed the Vikings.

Kennedy Koehler added 11 points and 10 rebounds for Coronado.

Zach Nichols had 16 points, and teammate John King scored 10 for Valley.

Needles 62, Mohave Accelerated (Ariz.) 23 — At Bullhead City, Derek Wagstaff had 11 points to guide the Mustangs over the Patriots.

Trenton Poe-Evans and Irving Juarez each added 10 points for Needles, which raced out to a 23-5 first-quarter lead.

Sandy Valley 35, Indian Springs 29 — At Indian Springs, Wyatt Robinson scored 16 points to lead the Sidewinders by the Thunderbirds.

David Roundy added 13 points for Sandy Valley, which used an 11-6 fourth quarter run to pull away.

David Watkins paced Indian Springs with eight points.
