SPRING VALLEY DUALS: Jacobs helps Grizzlies claim title

Spring Valley's Taevian Jacobs edged Robert Kaempfer 5-4 at 285 pounds Saturday to help the Grizzlies defeat Las Vegas 39-34 in the championship match of the Spring Valley Duals.

Kaempfer, the 2015 Division I state runner-up at 285, had beaten Jacobs 4-2 at the Charger Duals earlier this season, helping the Wildcats win that match.

Marlon Decoud (152) and Zach Pakulak (170) recorded first-period pins for Spring Valley, which also won three matches by forfeit.

Tyler Nishi-Rivera won by fall at 132 for the Grizzlies.

Daniel Law (126), Abel Jara-Magallenes (182) and Cruz Littlefield (195) had pins for Las Vegas.

Palo Verde defeated Basic 54-20 in the third-place match.
