CROSS COUNTRY: Blaine helps Mustangs edge Centennial boys

Johnathon Blaine won a 3.1-mile race in 16 minutes, 52.1 seconds on Tuesday to help Shadow Ridge's boys cross country team nip Centennial and win a six-team meet at Lone Mountain Park.

The Mustangs' team score of 39 was one point better than Centennial. Desert Oasis was third with 63, followed by Bonanza with 107, Cimarron-Memorial with 134 and Lake Mead with 151.

Centennial's Dominic Roberts was second in 17:18.2, and Desert Oasis' Zach Wood placed third in 17:40.6.

Cromwell, Cougars finish first

At Sonata Park, Nathan Cromwell won a 2.8-mile race in 16:12.2 and Coronado had five of the top six finishers en route to an easy win in a cluster meet.

The Cougars had a team score of 17. Liberty was second with 47, followed by Foothill with 98, Las Vegas with 104, Laughlin with 149 and Eldorado with 165.

Coronado's Xavier Cummins finished second in 16:36.7, and teammate Graham Griffin was third in 16:38.2.

GIRLS

Attebury, Cougars win meet

At Sonata Park, Jessica Attebury won a 2.8-mile race in 19:34.2 and helped Coronado capture a cluster meet.

The Cougars had a team score of 23. Liberty was second with 54, followed by Las Vegas (69), Foothill (87) and Laughlin (152).

Liberty's Skyler Free was second in 20:00.4, and Las Vegas' Ariana Vega-Miranda finished third in 20:20.2.

Centennial rolls to win

At Lone Mountain Park, Alexis Gourrier won a 3.1-mile race in 18:53.1, and Centennial took nine of the top 10 spots to easily win a cluster meet.

Karina Haymore finished second in 19:40.1 for the Bulldogs, who had 18 points. Shadow Ridge was second with 57, followed by Cimarron-Memorial with 91, Desert Oasis with 106 and Bonanza with 113.

Cimarron's Marieta Wright placed third in 19:59.
