GIRLS BASKETBALL: Carpenter, Miners hang on to defeat Jaguars

Sunrise Mountain’s Nina Carpenter scored 15 points Tuesday and the Miners withstood a fourth-quarter rally to hang on for a 37-34 road win at Desert Pines.

Tayaa Pratt supplied eight points for Sunrise Mountain.

Chrystian Myles had 16 points, four assists and three steals to lead the Jaguars, who outscored Sunrise Mountain 17-9 in the fourth quarter.

Jordan Bailey scored 12 points for Desert Pines.

Chaparral 50, Moapa Valley 44 — At Overton, Marcia Hawkins scored 17 points to help the Cowboys get past the Pirates.

Taij Criss-Felton had 11 points, and Alexis Vanstory scored 10 for Chaparral.

Summer Evans led Moapa Valley with 14 points.

Sierra Vista 50, Western 43 — At Western, Kimayah Love scored 11 points to lead a balanced attack as the Mountain Lions defeated the Warriors.

Kayla Smith and Kennedy Nieves each scored 10 points, and Iymoni Burrell added nine points for Sierra Vista, which used a 17-9 fourth quarter run to pull away.

Western’s Destiny Gonzalez led all scorers with 28 points, and Capricia Pierce scored 10 for the Warriors.

Green Valley 48, Eldorado 40 — At Eldorado, Milena Palor had nine points and six rebounds, and Yamilei Rodriguez scored nine points to help the Gators beat the Sundevils.

Brooke Haney supplied eight points and nine rebounds for Green Valley.

Eldorado’s Deasia Walker led all scorers with 19 points for Eldorado, and teammate Daria Lomasney added 13 points.

Palo Verde 55, Durango 43 — At Palo Verde, Paulina Silcox scored 15 points to help the Panthers turn back the Trailblazers.

Makayla Johnson and Alaysia Reed added 11 points each for Palo Verde, which took control of the game with a 21-12 second quarter run.

Brittany Romo scored 20 points for Durango, and teammate Aylin Ponce added 11 points.

Bishop Gorman 59, Legacy 18 — At Gorman, Megan Jacobs scored 18 points, and the Gaels jumped out to a 25-4 first quarter lead and went on to rout the Longhorns.

Madison Washington, Skylar Jackson and Raychel Stanley each added 10 points for Gorman, which led 44-9 at the half and held Legacy scoreless in the third quarter.

Dani Livingston had eight points for the Longhorns.

Boulder City 51, Tech 28 — At Boulder City, Megan Morton had 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Eagles to an easy win over the Roadrunners.

Alyssa Ybarra added nine points for Boulder City.

Patrice Thomas scored eight points for Tech.

Virgin Valley 55, Del Sol 34 — At Del Sol, Kourtney Metzger scored 16 points to help the Bulldogs top the Dragons.

Emma Barnum added 10 points for Virgin Valley, which used a 16-6 second quarter run to take control.

Azhwalaee Oliver led Del Sol with 10 points.

Clark 45, Pahrump Valley 24 — At Clark, Bobbi Floyd had 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Chargers over the Trojans.

Shyanne Carter-Wade grabbed 12 rebounds for Clark, which opened the game on an 11-0 run.

Agassi Prep 55, Mountain View 47 — At Mountain View, Destiny Rover led four players in double figures with 15 points as the Stars defeated the Saints.

Azaria Conway-Wilson had 13 points, Javoulaee Green added 11 points and Ayanna McClendon scored 10 for Agassi Prep.

Rose Adkins finished with 18 points to lead Mountain View, and teammate Kiley Murphy had 12 points.

Laughlin 45, Calvary Chapel 39 — At Calvary Chapel, Kayla Nelson scored 18 points to lead the Cougars past the Lions.

Brittany Schelper had 14 points for Laughlin, which overcame a 15-2 first quarter deficit.

Jenna Mace and Sara Hernandez each had 12 points for Calvary Chapel.

Needles 66, Lake Mead 18 — At Lake Mead, Jane Antone had 21 points as the Mustangs routed the Eagles.

Brenna Chavez added 15 points for Needles, which outscored Lake Mead 16-0 in the second quarter to take a 37-5 halftime lead.

Word of Life 52, Adelson School 39 — At Adelson, Arieyanna Banks scored 21 points to lead the Eagles by the Lions.

Cherish Greene added 14 points for Word of Life, which used a 16-3 second quarter run to take control.

Tamar Tecktiel had 15 points, and Ariel Wexler scored 14 for Adelson.

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
