2015 Cheyenne Baseball Capsule

CHEYENNE

Head coach: Colin Snyder, second season

2014 record: 9-15 (4-6 Sunset, fourth)

Returning lettermen (starters): Eight (six)

Top players: C/1B Korey Poole (Sr.), 3B Joseph Rose (Sr.), P/CF/SS Angelo Hallenback (Jr.), P/CF/SS James Cummings (Sr.)

Outlook: Six starters return for the Desert Shields, who qualified for the Southern Region playoffs last year.

“This group of kids has played a lot of games together and is meshing as a team,” Snyder said. “Our focus this season is persistence as we expect to make a bigger impact in the playoffs.

“Our backups are young players. Those guys will get some playing experience this year. At this point, I feel pretty good about their progress and the maturity of our guys who have played the last few years and the roles they are taking.”

Snyder said Cummings and Hallenback will be the leaders on the mound, and he expectes Poole and Rose to have “a big year at the plate.”
