GIRLS TRACK: McDermott wins three events, leads Trojans to win

Meghan McDermott won three events Tuesday to help Pahrump Valley’s girls track team win a four-team meet at Western.

The Trojans had 107½ points. Moapa Valley was second with 66, followed by Desert Pines (43) and Western (18½).

McDermott won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.4 seconds, the triple jump with a distance of 33 feet, 8 inches and the long jump (15-7).

Kelbie Middleton, Sydney Dennis and Kaeli Havel each won two events for Pahrump.

Middleton won the 100 in 12.1 and the 200 in 25.7. Dennis took the 800 in 2:44.3 and the 1,600 in 6:04.1. Havel swept the throws, with an 82-1 in the discus and posting a mark of 29-9 in the shot put.

Centennial runs past Bonanza

At Bonanza, Lauren Ritter finished first in three events to help Centennial to a 136-26 win over Bonanza.

Ritter tied for first in the 100 (13.5) and won the long jump (15-1) and triple jump (30-5).

Centennial’s Kayla Roberts took the 800 (2:31.7) and 1,600 (5:32.5), and teammate Talie Bonds won the 100 hurdles (15.2) and 300 hurdles (48.8).

Panthers top Gorman

At Bishop Gorman, Shakiya Hollis won the discus (105-3) and shot put (33-5½), and teammate Emma Wahlenmaier won the 800 (2:28.5) and 1,600 (5:44.71) to lead Palo Verde to an 80-65 win over the Gaels.

Palo Verde swept the relays.

Vashti Cunningham won the long jump (18-3½) and high jump (6-2½) for Gorman.

Mustangs roll to home win

At The Meadows, Francie McCall and Dani Chami each won two events as the host Mustangs rolled to victory in a six-team meet.

The Meadows finished with 189 points to top Tonopah (77), Laughlin (54), Agassi Prep (43), Quest Academy (21) and Indian Springs (18).

McCall won the 100 (13.3) and 200 (27.4), and Chami took the pole vault (9-6) and long jump (16-3¼).

Longhorns top Trailblazers, Lions

At Durango, Legacy’s Traonna Hamblet won the 100 (12.3) and 200 (26.0) to lead the Longhorns to victory in a three-team meet with 89 2/3 points.

Durango had 58 1/3, and Calvary Chapel was third with 20.

Crusaders win four-team meet

At Spring Valley, Clarissa Maxey won the 200 in 24.5 seconds and ran on the winning 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams to lead Faith Lutheran to victory with 135½ points.

Sierra Vista was second with 60, followed by Cheyenne (37½) and Spring Valley (34).

Spring Valley’s Cheyenne Charles won the 100 hurdles (17.6) and 300 hurdles (53.3).
