VOLLEYBALL: Mountain Lions slip past Cowboys

Nik Fava had nine kills and six digs Thursday to help Sierra Vista’s boys volleyball team to a 25-16, 20-25, 25-17, 24-26, 16-14 win at Chaparral.

Steven Thomas added nine kills and two blocks for the Mountain Lions.

Ben Kirschbaum had 12 kills and five blocks, and Jose Chavez added eight kills and two blocks for the Cowboys, who got five kills and four blocks from Jonas Rivas.

Rancho 3, Liberty 0 — At Rancho, Lamont Traylor had eight kills and four blocks as the Rams swept the Patriots, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19.

Martin Rodriguez had 11 kills, and Ryan Hafen had 10 kills for Rancho, which got 21 assists and two aces from Douglas Candido.

Palo Verde 3, Basic 0 — At Palo Verde, Michael Simister had eight kills to lead the Panthers past the Wolves, 25-13, 25-13, 25-8.

Tyler Klingensmith had seven kills, and Cole Willson had 25 assists for the Panthers.

Rielly Riepenhoff had four kills, and Wyatt Williams had six assists for Basic, which got 14 digs from Bo Peterson.

Arbor View 3, Coronado 0 — At Arbor View, Kaneen Manuel had seven kills, three aces and five digs to lead the Aggies past the Cougars, 25-17, 25-16, 25-14.

Sam Buckels had 10 kills, and Ben Martin had 27 assists and four blocks for Arbor View.

Matt Johnson had seven kills, and Samuel Cox added 19 assists and seven digs for Coronado.

Desert Pines 3, Western 0 — At Desert Pines, Estanislao Lansangan dished out 12 assists to lead the Jaguars to a 25-21, 25-14, 25-15 sweep of the Warriors.

Gerardo Corral had 10 assists, and DeAngelo Dixon supplied five kills for Desert Pines.

William Riggs had 10 assists, and Sky Tillmond had five kills to pace Western.

Shadow Ridge 3, Eldorado 0 — At Shadow Ridge, N.J. Makaiwi had 14 assists, four digs and three aces to lead the Mustangs to a 25-17, 25-13, 25-19 sweep of the Sundevils.

Austin Cram supplied seven digs and five kills for Shadow Ridge.

Del Sol 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Del Sol, Jared Moreda had 14 kils, 11 digs and 13 blocks to lead the Dragons past the Desert Shields, 25-8, 25-21, 25-21.

Blane Quitog had 12 kills, eight aces and eight digs, and La’akea Cabanas had 13 kills and six aces for Del Sol. Jay Peete added five kills, three aces and 12 digs for the Dragons.

Clark 3, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Walt Benda had seven kills and four aces to lead the Chargers to a 25-19, 25-8, 25-10 win over the Miners.

Walter Regalado added 18 assists, and Daniel Pedroza had six digs for Clark.

Deshawn Johns had two kills and two blocks, and Theodore Williams added three kills and two digs for Sunrise Mountain.

Mojave 3, Tech 0 — At Tech, Absalon Williams had 11 kills and nine blocks to lead the Rattlers to a 25-23, 25-9, 25-9 sweep of the Roadrunners.

Jordan Glenn had 10 kills, and Alex Carvalho added eight kills and eight blocks for Mojave, which got 15 digs and three aces from Anthony Reed.

Bryant Pochop had six kills, and Josh Wood had four kills and nine assists for Tech.
