BOYS SOCCER: Arreola scores three goals as Miners move closer to Sunrise title

Jose Arreola scored three goals Thursday as Sunrise Mountain’s boys soccer team inched closer to a Sunrise League title with a 4-1 win over Tech at Heritage Park.

Raciel Jimenez-Vazquez added a goal for the Miners, who have a five-point lead over Chaparral and an eight-point lead over two-time defending Division I-A state champion Tech for first place in the Sunrise League. All three teams have two league matches remaining.

Francisco Garcia scored for the Roadrunners.

Chaparral 3, Desert Pines 1 — At Desert Pines, Jose Morales scored twice as the Cowboys overcame a 1-0 deficit with three second-half goals and downed the Jaguars.

Gavynn Mossiah had a goal and an assist for Chaparral.

Jimmy Rodriguez scored for Desert Pines.

Bishop Gorman 2, Legacy 1 — At Gorman, Brandon Malek scored twice in his first varsity game to give the Gaels a win over the Longhorns.

Horacio Osorio scored for Legacy.

Coronado 2, Eldorado 1 — At Eldorado, Justin Lyons and Alex Taylor each had a goal as the Cougars edged the Sundevils.

Israel Hernandez scored for Eldorado.

Las Vegas 4, Valley 2 — At Valley, Alexis Barrios scored two goals to lead the Wildcats to victory over the Vikings.

Axel Catalan had a goal and two assists, and Daniel Nunez scored for Las Vegas, which got two assists from Marc Sotelo.

Eric Sanchez had a goal and an assist, and Josh Cloyd also scored for Valley.

Palo Verde 2, Durango 0 — At Durango, Connor Ryan and Erik Karnehed each scored once to lead the Panthers over the Trailblazers.

Austin Manthey had two assists for Palo Verde.

Nishesh Yadav made 11 saves to earn the shutout.

Boulder City 3, Moapa Valley 3 — At Boulder City, Victor Andrades scored two goals to allow the Eagles to tie the visiting Pirates.

Justin Fox had a goal and an assist for Boulder City.

Enrique Frias had a goal and two assists, and Israel Rubio added a goal and an assist for Moapa Valley. Maximo Rubio also had a goal for the Pirates.

Virgin Valley 4, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, Moises Medina scored three goals to power the Bulldogs by the Dragons.

Gabe Medina also scored for Virgin Valley.

Diego Flores-Diaz scored on an assist from Diego Nieves for Del Sol.

Foothill 5, Rancho 0 — At Foothill, Robert Cowan had two goals and an assist to lead help Falcons beat the Rams.

Jackson Dietrich and Mason Reid each added a goal and an assist, and Timothy Olsen also scored for Foothill.

Derek Lawson made six saves to earn the shutout.

Green Valley 8, Basic 0 — At Basic, Maliq Cooper had a goal and two assists as the Gators routed the Wolves.

Austin Quirt, Connor Malone, Salvatore Hicks, Edgar Gonzalez, Noah Whitehead, Cole Aronson and Bryant Peralta each added a goal for Green Valley.

Peralta and Hicks combined on the shutout.
