WRESTLING: Brown, Morelli lead Eagles to three wins

Michael Morelli and Jimmy Brown each recorded three pins on Wednesday to lead Boulder City’s wrestling team to victories over Canyon Springs, Legacy and Mojave in a quad meet at Mojave.

Morelli posted three first-period pins at 120 pounds. Against Canyon Springs, Morelli was one of five Eagles to win in the first period, as he pinned his opponent in 1 minute, 33 seconds.

Brown (126), Collin Fox (132), Tyler Rushworth (138), Nelson Van Diest (195) and Jack Rozycki (285) also won by fall for Boulder City.

Morelli pinned his opponent in just 26 seconds in a 54-27 win over Legacy.

D.J. Reese (106), Brown (126) and Dylan Viera (145) each won by pin for the Eagles.

It took Morelli just 48 seconds in a 54-21 victory over Mojave. Boulder City also got pins from Brown (126), Fox (132), Dylan Dennington (160), Alexander Pappageorge (170), Dustin Edlund (182), Van Diest (195) and Rozycki (285).

Both of Van Diest’s pins came in less than a minute.

Mojave 53, Canyon Springs 28 — Nicolas Kline (182) pinned his opponent in just 25 seconds to lead the Rattlers over the Pioneers.

Michael Childs (120), Akil West (126), Mario Shelton (152), Tariq Banks and Dai’jon Payno also won by fall for the Rattlers.

Jose Yanez (138), Evan Anderson (160) and Joshua Gonzalez (285) also recorded falls for Canyon Springs.

Mojave 52, Legacy 30 — Banks won by pin in just 13 seconds at 195 pounds to power the Rattlers.

Quaid Barrientos (106) and Kline (182) also won by fall for Mojave.

Andrew Sandoval (113), Angel Flores (120) and Josh Rockmaker (152) had pins for Legacy, which also defeated Canyon Springs, 43-40.
