BOYS BASKETBALL: Cannon, Coleman help Diamondbacks win Bulldog Invitational title

Drevin Cannon and Aamondae Coleman each had 19 points Saturday to lead Desert Oasis to a 77-65 victory over Bonanza in the championship game of the Bulldog Invitational in Mesquite.

Rodrick Moore added 12 points, and Taiga Miyano scored 11 for the Diamondbacks.

DaVonta Price led Bonanza with 21 points. Jamal Logan scored 14 and D.J. Fletcher 11 for the Bengals.

Coleman was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Also named to the all-tournament team were Logan and Price from Bonanza, Shadow Ridge’s Brett Meci and Virgin Valley’s Jarrett Tietjen.

Desert Oasis 70, Shadow Ridge 66 — At Mesquite, Moore scored 16 points to help the Diamondbacks hold off the Mustangs in the Bulldog Invitational semifinals.

Coleman had 12 points, and Deric Hammock scored 10 for Desert Oasis, which led 51-42 after three quarters.

Jerrell Springer paced Shadow Ridge with 16 points, and Meci scored 10 for the Mustangs.

Bonanza 63, Virgin Valley 60 — At Mesquite, Logan had 18 points as the Bengals held off the Bulldogs in the Bulldog Invitational semifinals.

John Holden added 11 points for Bonanza, which trailed 26-20 at the half.

Tietjen had 12 points, and Hogan Fowles scored 10 for Virgin Valley.

Shadow Ridge 80, Virgin Valley 76 — At Mesquite, Meci and Juwan Johnson each had 14 points as the Mustangs beat the Bulldogs for third place in the Bulldog Invitational.

Preston Echols added 12 points for Shadow Ridge.

Marcus Saunders led Virgin Valley with 19 points, and Tietjen added 16 points. Cody Burnside (11 points) and Fowles (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Bulldogs.

Mojave 79, Enterprise (Utah) 56 — At Mesquite, the Rattlers outscored the Wolves 25-9 in the fourth quarter to win the fifth-place game at the Bulldog Invitational.

Jordan Glenn had 24 points, and Malik Abbott scored 20 to lead Mojave. Marquis Wilkerson added 12 points for the Rattlers.

Michael Dougherty scored 20 to pace Enterprise.

Mojave 70, Kanab (Utah) 39 — At Mesquite, Glenn had 17 points to lead four Rattlers in double figures as the won in the Bulldog Invitational.

Abbott and Chrishawn Thomas each added 14 points, and teammate Tareq Onque scored 11 for Mojave, which led 37-18 at the half.

Enterprise (Utah) 58, Moapa Valley 38 — At Mesquite, Jake Jones and Ricky Ramos each had 10 points to help the Wolves top the Pirates in the Bulldog Invitational.

Andrew Huerta led Moapa Valley with 12 points.

Kanab (Utah) 51, Moapa Valley 35 — At Mesquite, Layne Anderson had 16 points as the Cowboys topped the Pirates in the Bulldog Invitational.

Huerta led Moapa Valley with 14 points.

Mountain View 71, Lincoln County 60 — At Mountain View, Tevin Gray went 9-for-9 from the free-throw line in overtime and finished with 28 points to lead the Saints by the Lynx.

Connor LeBoeuf added 27 points for Mountain View, which made 24 of 28 free throws in the game.

Mike Wood had 19 points to lead Lincoln County, which missed four free throws in the final 20 seconds of regulation with the game tied, including two with 1.8 seconds left. Derek Shumway added 15 points, and McClain O’Connor scored 13 for the Lynx.

Lake Mead 52, White Pine 39 — At Lake Mead, Shay Rutledge had 12 points to help the Eagles down the Bobcats.

Trey Vetter added 11 points, and Dylan Graham grabbed 13 rebounds for Lake Mead, which led 26-14 at the half.

Chris Young paced White Pine with 19 points.

The Meadows 73, Laughlin 49 — At The Meadows, Max Histake scored 24 points to help the Mustangs top the Cougars.

Ethan Fridman added 14 points, and Asheesh Chopra had 13 points for The Meadows.

Corey Anderson poured in 31 points for Laughlin.
