VOLLEYBALL: Morgan, Cowboys outlast Chargers

Pierce Morgan finished with 12 kills, 13 assists and 10 digs as Chaparral’s boys volleyball team outlasted Clark 19-25, 25-21, 25-23, 12-25, 15-11 on Thursday.

Josiah Wagge had five kills, two aces and seven digs, and Armando Zarate added four aces and 18 digs for the Cowboys.

Walter Regalado had 39 assists and five aces for Clark.

Daniel Diaz-Villa led the Chargers with 13 kills, and teammate Walt Benda notched 10 kills.

Coronado 3, Basic 1 — At Basic, Travis Boman had 20 kills and 11 digs to lead the Cougars over the Wolves, 25-11, 20-25, 25-17, 34-32.

Logan Dickover supplied 51 assists and 17 digs for Coronado. Samuel Cox added 31 digs and four aces, and teammate Karriem Beyah notched six kills for the Cougars.

Austin McDonald led Basic with 34 digs. Auston Farrington and Joaquin Pequeno each had nine kills, and Taylor Dyer recorded 31 assists for the Wolves.

Foothill 3, Liberty 0 — At Foothill, Taeg Williams supplied 29 assists and 11 digs to lead the Falcons to a 25-23, 25-17, 25-18 sweep of the Patriots.

Trevor Robison had 13 kills and seven digs, and Ryan Briggs notched six kills and six digs for Foothill.

Brandon Baliza had five kills, and teammate Brycen Ivester added nine assists for Liberty.

Eldorado 3, Del Sol 0 — At Eldorado, Jacob Hollingsworth had 19 kills to lead the Sundevils to a 25-16, 25-19, 25-23 victory over the Dragons.

Dakota Shults added nine kills, and Michael Thomas had 26 assists for Eldorado. Juan Garcia had 13 digs for the Sundevils.

Bishop Gorman 3, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Gorman, Tony Pitaro had 21 kills, three aces and two blocks to lead the Gaels to a 25-23, 25-9, 25-20 sweep of the Spartans.

Joshua Holland had 20 assists for Gorman.

Royce Hightower had 10 kills, and Nate Starlin added 15 assists and seven digs for Cimarron. Roy Gonzalez added four kills, two blocks and eight digs, and Dallas Cervantes had four kills and 13 digs for the Spartans.

Centennial 3, Bonanza 0 — At Centennial, Chet Durkin had four kills, 28 assists, three aces and six digs to lead the Bulldogs to a 25-19, 25-23, 25-23 win over the Bengals.

Tanner Durkin had eight kills, five digs and three aces for Centennial, which got nine kills from Terrell Hicks and six kills from Todd Polley.

Andrew Jensen led Bonanza with 11 kills and seven digs. Kelleyne Layne added nine kills and six digs, and Josh Lee had 28 assists for the Bengals.

Palo Verde 3, Silverado 1 — At Silverado, Michael Simister and Brigham Clawson each had 14 kills as the Panthers beat the Skyhawks, 25-12, 19-25, 25-11, 25-17.

Andrew Weston had 36 assists, and Ryan Nielson added 21 digs or Palo Verde.

Cody Steckel led Silverado with 20 assists, five digs and four kills.

Austin Hunt had nine digs and eight blocks for the Skyhawks, and teammate Dylan Eastman recorded four kills.

Valley 3, Arbor View 1 — At Valley, Matt Ballaro had 14 kills, four digs and one ace to help Valley rally for a 16-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-20 win over the Aggies.

Alex Sandoval supplied 37 assists, 11 digs and two aces for Valley. Jack Heavey had 12 kills, 14 digs and three blocks, Marty Heavey added six kills and five blocks and Jesse Smith notched seven kills and 12 digs for the Vikings.

Darien Bradley led Arbor View with 14 kills and six digs. Peter Peck added 28 digs for the Aggies.

Mojave 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Jovan Carrazco had 33 assists and six aces, and Alex Carvalho added 13 kills and three aces to help the Rattlers to a 25-8, 25-17, 25-13 sweep of the Jaguars.

Victorlee Boardley and Clayton Fontano each had nine kills for Mojave.

Tech 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Tech, Tyler Gardenhire’s seven kills and eight aces led the Roadrunners to a 25-9, 25-20, 25-18 sweep of the Desert Shields.

Brandon Finley had eight kills and three digs, and Miguel Garcia added three kills and eight digs for Cheyenne, which got seven kills from Brian Medrano-Kaier.

Terry Dodd led Cheyenne with three blocks and an ace, and teammate Dylan Johnson contributed seven assists and three blocks.
