BOYS BASKETBALL: Leavitt’s big second half helps Bulldogs beat Roadrunners

Garrett Leavitt scored 21 of his 23 points in the second half Wednesday to help Virgin Valley’s boys basketball team to a 56-41 win at Tech.

Dee Bowler added 13 points for the Bulldogs, who led 24-17 at the half.

Crawford Linden led the Roadrunners with 15 points, and teammate Elijah Robertson scored 11.

Chaparral 45, Sunrise Mountain 40 — At Chaparral, Tyree McNeal went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line down the stretch and had 21 points to lead the Cowboys past the Miners.

Marc Silas had 13 points, and Maharie Trotter added 18 rebounds for Chaparral, which led 26-18 entering the fourth quarter. Sunrise Mountain rallied to take a four-point lead, but McNeal converted a four-point play and iced the game from the free-throw line.

Malik Cannon had 10 points for Sunrise Mountain.

Cheyenne 61, Faith Lutheran 57 — At Faith Lutheran, Jarrell Bell had 25 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals to lift the Desert Shields over the Crusaders.

Ulises Santillan added 16 points and nine rebounds for Cheyenne, which trailed 31-26 at halftime, but used a 16-9 third quarter to take the lead.

Clayton Holthaus supplied 19 points, and Blake Bell added 12 points for the Crusaders, who also got 10 points from Conner Vang.

Desert Pines 79, Moapa Valley 43 — At Desert Pines, Nate Grimes had 21 points and 14 rebounds to help lead the Jaguars to an easy win over the Pirates.

Re’meake Keith added 15 points, and Capri Uzan scored 14 for Desert Pines, which used a 28-6 first-quarter burst to pull away.

Joseph Bellavance had 15 points to lead Moapa Valley.

Legacy 68, Desert Oasis 58 — At Legacy, Shakir Arrey had 13 points to lead eight scorers as the Longhorns downed the Diamondbacks.

Jacob Rainey had 12 points, and Christian Solis scored nine for Legacy.

Kodi Leslie notched 20 points to lead Desert Oasis.

Clark 77, Pahrump Valley 21 — At Clark, Jordan Turner scored 18 points, and Carter Olsen added 14 points to propel the Chargers past the Trojans.

Colby Jackson and Darius Jackson each supplied 10 points for Clark, which led 48-15 at the half.

James Broadhead had eight points to lead Pahrump.

Bishop Gorman 56, Bonanza 19 — At Gorman, Noah Robotham had 10 points and six assists, and the Gaels jumped out to a 22-4 first-quarter lead on their way to a win over the Bengals.

Chase Jeter and Nick Blair each scored nine points for the Gaels, and teammate Stephen Zimmerman had seven points and eight rebounds.

DeAndre Hicks led the Bengals with five points.

Mojave 73, Western 38 — At Western, Darryl Adams had 19 points to lead the Rattlers in a rout of the Warriors.

Melvin Irvey scored 13 points, and Kemario Williams had 11 points for Mojave.

Wyatt Rozea paced Western with 11 points.
