BOYS BASKETBALL: Desert Shields hold off Rattlers

Dominic Jackson-Anasson had 16 points and 11 rebounds Wednesday as Cheyenne’s boys basketball team held on for a 68-67 home win over Mojave.

Joseph Rose added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Desert Shields, who took a 49-42 lead into the fourth quarter but survived when Mojave’s Kemario Williams stole an inbound pass in the closing seconds and missed a half-court shot.

Javon Peterson had 13 points, four rebounds and five assists, and Jarrell Bell added 12 points, five rebounds and five assists for Cheyenne.

Malik Abbott had 19 points, and Williams scored 14 for Mojave.

Cimarron-Memorial 89, Desert Oasis 81 — At Desert Oasis, Tony Harrison poured in 23 points to propel the Spartans over the Diamonbacks.

JaDon Brown scored 16 points, and Austin Garrison had 14 points for Cimarron. Cameron McKissic supplied 13 points, and Kyle Skurow added 12 points for the Spartans.

Kodi Leslie racked up 26 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists for Desert Oasis, which also got 18 points from Deric Hammock and 16 points from Rodrick Moore.

Bishop Gorman 73, Centennial 50 — At Gorman, Chase Jeter had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Nick Blair scored 13 points as the Gaels used a balanced attack to defeat the Bulldogs.

Noah Robotham and Obim Okeke scored 12 points each, and Stephen Zimmerman supplied nine points and eight rebounds for Gorman.

Troy Brown scored 14 points, and Garrett Scheer and Eddie Davis had 11 points apiece for Centennial.

Legacy 52, Bonanza 35 — At Bonanza, Deshaun Hilliard scored 15 points to guide the Longhorns to a win over the Bengals.

Shakir Arrey and Christian Solis each added 11 points for Legacy, which outscored Bonanza 31-11 in the middle quarters.

Jamal Logan and Travis Noone led the Bengals with nine points apiece.

Virgin Valley 55, Sunrise Mountain 50 — At Sunrise Mountain, the Bulldogs forced five turnovers in the final 2:30 to rally past the Miners.

Garrett Leavitt went 5-for-5 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter and finished with 17 points for Virgin Valley, which trailed 49-48 before finishing the game on a 7-1 run.

Dee Bowler added 12 points for Virgin Valley.

Malik Cannon had 16 points, and Trellis Quinn scored 12 for Sunrise Mountain.

Boulder City 38, Moapa Valley 35 — At Boulder City, Sam Woodbury made the go-ahead 3-pointer with 17 seconds left to break a 35-35 tie and give the Eagles a win over the Pirates.

Tyler Newby scored 15 points for Boulder City, which got eight points from Marcus Walker.

Andrew Huerta had nine points to lead Moapa Valley.

Chaparral 59, Tech 43 — At Tech, Tyree McNeal and Edgar Ramirez each had 16 points to help the Cowboys by the Roadrunners.

Marc Silas added 15 points for Chaparral.

Crawford Linden led Tech with 16 points, and teammate Tyler Gardenhire added 12 points.

Faith Lutheran 68, Pahrump Valley 33 — At Pahrump, Matt Blair scored 14 points as the Crusaders downed the Trojans.

Mitch Fulfer added 12 points for Faith Lutheran, which sprinted to a 37-13 halftime lead.

Rudy Uresti scored eight points to lead Pahrump Valley.

Clark 55, Western 22 — At Clark, Diontae Jones and Greg Floyd scored 10 points apiece to lift the Chargers over the Warriors.

Keon Lea had eight points to lead Western.

Agassi Prep 76, Laughlin 37 — At Agassi Prep, Dennis Walker had 12 points and 11 rebounds as the Stars routed the Cougars.

Darius Coaxum had 14 points, and Deishuan Booker added 11 points and 10 assists for Agassi Prep, which also got 11 points from Kenneth Hatano.

Quinton Love had 12 points, and Corey Anderson scored 10 for Laughlin.
