WRESTLING: Spartans earn pair of victories

Cimarron-Memorial won four matches by pin Wednesday en route to a 46-18 home win over Liberty.

Jesse Saavedra (120 pounds), Angel Laurente (132), Logan Marx-Hamilton (138) and Logan Taylor (170) each had a pin for the Spartans.

Bakari Speights (220) and Nicholas Watnem (195) each recorded a first-period pin for the Patriots.

Cimarron-Memorial 76, Basic 6 — At Cimarron, Davin Maiden pinned his opponent in 51 seconds at 220 pounds to help the Spartans roll by the Wolves.

Saavedra (120), Paul Bagnoli (126), Marx-Hamilton (138), Paul Hammontree (152), Julian Edwards (160), Taylor (170), Jesse Ramos (182) and Nathaniel Garcia (195) also won by fall for Cimarron.

Jotasem Funaki won by pin at 285 to account for Basic’s points.

Liberty 42, Faith Lutheran 33 — At Cimarron, Adam Knepow won by fall in 45 seconds at 106 pounds as the Patriots got by the Crusaders.

Storm Roper (145) and Jeremy Cedillo (182) also won by fall for Liberty.

Owen Lawrie (126), Quinton Donnelly (132), Trent Dolby (138) and Christian Khoury (220) each won by fall for Faith Lutheran.

Faith Lutheran 46, Basic 36 — At Cimarron, Lawrie pinned his opponent in 1:06 at 126 pounds, and the Crusaders used four forfeits to slip by the Wolves.

Joey LaPlaca (113) and Dolby (138) won by fall for Faith Lutheran.

Taylor Denney (120), Josh Floth (152), Jesse Plaff (170) and Jacob Crawford (195) each had a pin for Basic.
