BASKETBALL: Tibbitts, Lynx top Laughlin girls to claim league title

Tanji Tibbitts led a balanced attack with 12 points Saturday as Lincoln County’s girls basketball team captured the Division III Southern League title with a 48-21 home win over Laughlin.

Jaycee Wadsworth added eight points for the Lynx, who finished 12-2 in league play, one game better than both The Meadows and Needles.

Brittany Schelper led Laughlin with six points.

The Meadows 38, Calvary Chapel 37 — At Calvary Chapel, Bailey Gosse scored 13 points to help the Mustangs claim the No. 2 seed for the Division III Southern League playoffs by nipping the Lions.

Calvary Chapel took a 37-36 lead with 15 seconds to go, but the Mustangs hit the go-ahead basket with five seconds left.

The Lions got a potential winning shot off before the buzzer, but it hit the rim and bounced away.

Phallen Nelson had 16 points, and Malia Lee grabbed 10 rebounds for Calvary Chapel.

Agassi Prep 54, Mountain View 33 — At Agassi Prep, Javoulaee Green had 14 points, and the Stars used runs of 17-7 in the first quarter and 12-2 in the third quarter to down the Saints.

London Ward added 13 points for Agassi Prep.

Kiley Murphy led Mountain View with 20 points.

BOYS

Lincoln County 72, Laughlin 65 — At Panaca, McClain O’Connor scored 25 points as the Lynx held off the Cougars in overtime.

Derek Shumway had 16 points, and Christian Florence scored 10 for Lincoln County.

Laughlin’s Corey Anderson had 22 points, including a running, double-clutch 3-pointer at the regulation buzzer to force overtime. Brett Smith added 16 points, and David Rain scored 14 for the Cougars.

Agassi Prep 57, Mountain View 44 — At Agassi Prep, Deishuan Booker scored 14 of his 25 points in the third quarter to help the Stars rally past the Saints.

Booker added seven assists for Agassi Prep, which trailed 29-23 at the half.

Matthew Larson had 16 points, and Connor LeBoeuf scored 13 for Mountain View.

The Meadows 68, Calvary Chapel 60 — At Calvary Chapel, Brian Fridman scored 16 points, and the Mustangs used a 20-9 run in the second quarter to down the Lions.

Brandon Rufty had 10 points for The Meadows.

Chris Basilio paced Calvary Chapel with 19 points. Quentin Hank added 15 points, and Riley Clark scored 11 for the Lions.
