BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Wildcats down defending champs in five sets

Las Vegas High’s Chris Kampshoff had 20 kills and eight digs on Tuesday, and T.J. Esporas added 14 kills, 10 digs and four blocks to help the host Wildcats outlast defending state champion Coronado, 25-20, 25-19, 29-31, 17-25, 15-13.

Shayne Marquez dished out 57 assists, and Chris Marx had 12 kills and five blocks for Las Vegas, which got eight kills and five blocks from Guillermo Gonzalez.

Max Osmundson paced the Cougars with 26 kills and 13 digs. Logan Dickover had 51 assists and eight digs, and Dallin Bryan added nine kills for Coronado.

Centennial 3, Valley 2 — At Centennial, Tanner Polley had 17 kills and nine digs to help the Bulldogs rally for a 25-16, 19-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-13 win over the Vikings.

Tanner Durkin added 13 kills and two blocks, and Chet Durkin had 42 assists and four aces for Centennial, which got 18 digs from Cody Graham.

Matt Ballaro racked up 14 kills, 11 digs and five blocks for Valley. Jack Heavey added 21 kills and eight digs, and David Delaney had 12 digs for the Vikings.

Cimarron-Memorial 3, Chaparral 1 — At Chaparral, Roy Gonzalez had 10 kills, five blocks and an assist to lift the the Spartans over the Cowboys, 25-19, 25-18, 22-25, 25-22.

Nate Starlin added 25 assists, six aces and two kills for Cimarron, and teammate Royce Hightower had four kills and two blocks.

Matt Sanger led the Cowboys with 11 kills and three digs, and teammate Pierce Morgan had eight kills.

Basic 3, Western 0 — At Basic, Taylor Dyer had 12 assists and three aces to help the Wolves to a 25-2, 25-4, 25-6 sweep of the Warriors.

Sean Spencer, Auston Farrington, Austin Delacarrera and Brad McDonald each supplied four kills for Basic.

Farrington also had six aces.

Palo Verde 3, Foothill 0 — At Palo Verde, Brigham Clawson’s nine kills and two blocks helped the Panthers to a 25-12, 25-8, 25-15 sweep of the Falcons.

Andrew Weston had 23 assists and three aces for Palo Verde, which got 10 digs from Ryan Nielson.

Colin Curi led the Falcons with six kills.

Clark 3, Del Sol 0 — At Clark, Walter Regalado supplied 10 assists and six aces to guide the Chargers to a 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 sweep of the Dragons.

Walt Benda had six kills for Clark.

Darren Maru had eight digs for Del Sol, which got four kills apiece from Nick Ayala and Josue Aguirre.

Durango 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Durango, Andre Shabazz notched 25 assists and five aces as the Trailblazers swept the Pioneers, 25-18, 25-17, 25-16.

Joshua Semmerling added three blocks for Durango.

Desert Oasis 3, Liberty 2 — At Liberty, the Diamondbacks defeated the Patriots, 25-20, 21-25, 25-22, 15-25, 15-8.

D.J. Norris led Liberty with two kills and two blocks.
