BASEBALL: Cimarron uses late rally to trump Arbor View

Cimarron-Memorial’s baseball team rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the sixth on Friday to top visiting Arbor View, 10-8.

Arbor View led 7-0 going to the bottom of the fifth before the Spartans scored three runs.

Cimarron started the inning with three hits and a walk, and Larry Quaney hit a grand slam to make it 8-7.

The Spartans added an RBI single by Adam Mitchell and a run on an error.

Logan Bottrell was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Jamie Yanchisin and Tyler Giovinco each added two hits and a run for Cimarron.

Arbor View’s Kaid Urban was 4-for-5 with three runs and an RBI, and Nick Quintana went 3-for-5 with a double, a homer and three RBIs for the Aggies.

Canyon Springs 10, Tech 9 — At Canyon Springs, Jordan Gainey fanned the Roadrunners Elijah Robertson with the bases loaded to preserve a 10-9 win for the Pioneers.

Canyon Springs led 10-2 going into the seventh inning, but Tech rallied to plate seven runs in the inning before Gainey was brought in to get the final out.

Isiah Carter went 3-for-3 with three triples and three RBIs to lead the Pioneers at the plate. Gainey also drove in three runs for Canyon Springs.

Tech’s Elias Peinado went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Basic 5, Durango 1 — At Basic, Josh McLean tossed a five-hitter and struck out seven to lead the Wolves by the Trailblazers.

Taylor Ferdinand was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Ryne Nelson went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Basic. Logan Green was 2-for-3, and Jack Wold went 1-for-3 with a run and two RBIs for the Wolves.

Jacob Skipper was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Durango.

Foothill 9, Legacy 0 — At Foothill, Bligh Madris fired a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts as the Falcons topped the Longhorns.

Madris also went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for Foothill, which scored three runs in the second and six in the third.

Spencer Throgmorton went 2-for-4 with a run, and Zack Avery drove in two runs for Foothill.

Liberty 7, Desert Oasis 0 — At Liberty, Bailey Daguio threw five shutout innings to lead the Patriots over the Diamondbacks.

Daguio allowed four hits and one walk. Trevor Mullaney threw two shutout innings of relief for Liberty.

Ethan Ibarra was 3-for-3 with two doubles and four RBIs for the Patriots.

Silverado 6, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Vincent Taormina went 3-for-4 with a home run to help the Skyhawks defeat the Dragons.

James Skelly tossed a four-hitter with three strikeouts for the Skyhawks, who scored three runs in the first inning.

Bishop Gorman 6, Mountain Ridge (Ariz.) 2 — At Phoenix, Brandon Wulff had two RBIs, and Michael Blasko went 2-for-2 to lift the Gaels over the Mountain Lions in the Coach Bob Invitational.

Cole Krzmarzick added a double, and Antonio Rainone pitched a scoreless sixth inning to get the win for Gorman.

Cadyn Grenier struck out all three batters he faced to earn the save for the Gaels.

Bishop Gorman 10, Arcadia (Ariz.) 0 — At Phoenix, Krzmarzick hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to help the Gaels to a win over the Titans in five innings in the Coach Bob Invitational.

Grenier added a two-run homer for Gorman, which got a double from Bronson Bowe and a triple from Nick Gates.

Chris Frederickson struck out four in four innings to get the win for the Gaels.

Las Vegas 10, Woods Cross (Utah) 8 — At St. George, Utah, Antonio Gaxiola’s RBI ground out in the top of the seventh broke an 8-8 tie, and the Wildcats went on to beat Woods Cross in the Little Caesar’s Classic.

Carlos Galvan led off the seventh with a single, and Parker Lowe was hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch before Gaxiola’s hit.

Galvan also pitched six innings for the win, and Armando Corral earned the save.

Springville (Utah) 13, Las Vegas 3 — At St. George, Utah, the Wildcats fell to the Red Devils in five innings in the Little Caesar’s Classic.

Las Vegas’ Jared Herrera was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Jamie Solis also had an RBI for the Wildcats.

Snow Canyon (Utah) 11, Shadow Ridge 3 — At St. George, Utah, Snow Canyon scored 11 runs in the fifth inning en route to the win in the Little Caesar’s Classic.

Brady Sargent went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a homer and four RBIs to lead Snow Canyon.

Antonio Arreola was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Brady Hoskins and Trevin Reynolds each added two hits, a run and an RBI for Shadow Ridge.

Lone Peak (Utah) 8, Shadow Ridge 3 — At St. George, Utah, Hunter Christensen was 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs to lead the Knights over the Mustangs in the Little Caesar’s Classic.

Tyler Burton went 2-for-4 for Shadow Ridge.

Tonopah 12-8, Spring Mountain 2-1 — At Mountain Ridge Park, Connor Friel tossed a five-inning one-hitter and struck out 12 in the opener as the Muckers swept the Golden Eagles.

In the nightcap, Ian Guthridge fired a three-hitter and struck out 13 for Tonopah. Jason Carman doubled and drove in three runs for the Muckers.
