VOLLEYBALL: Sundevils trump Spartans in five sets

Dakota Shults had 30 kills and 11 aces Thursday to help Eldorado’s boys volleyball team rally for a 25-17, 26-28, 25-23, 26-25, 15-8 win at Cimarron-Memorial.

Jake Hollingsworth had 13 kills and six blocks, and Michael Thomas dished out 51 assists for the Sundevils, who also got four blocks from Charles Sweet.

Dallas Cervantes had eight kills and 11 digs, and Roy Gonzalez supplied nine kills and five digs for the Spartans.

Nate Starlin added 24 assists and three digs, and Joshua Montellano had seven digs and three aces for Cimarron.

Arbor View 3, Bonanza 0 — At Arbor View, Darien Bradley put away 18 kills, and Chris Heron dished out 39 assists to lead the Aggies to a 25-20, 25-18, 25-23 win over the Bengals.

Sam Buckels added nine kills and four blocks for Arbor View.

Andrew Jensen recorded 14 kills and five digs for Bonanza, and Kellen Layne added seven kills and two blocks. Joshua Lee dished out 17 assists for the Bengals.

Valley 3, Foothill 0 — At Valley, Alex Sandoval supplied 25 assists and eight digs to lead the Vikings to a 25-11, 25-22, 25-14 sweep of the Falcons.

Jack Heavey had 14 kills and seven digs, and Matt Ballaro notched nine digs and eight kills for Valley, which lost to Foothill in the semifinals of the Sunrise Region tournament last season.

Shilo Chow dished out 17 assists, and Yuri Del Alcazar contributed 15 digs to lead Foothill.

Shadow Ridge 3, Basic 1 — At Shadow Ridge, Quinn Peterson had 25 kills to lead the Mustangs to a 23-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-20 win over the Wolves.

Carter Johnson had 15 kills and two blocks, and A.J. Makaiwi added 38 digs for Shadow Ridge.

Auston Farrington had 14 kills, and Taylor Dyer dished out 37 assists for Basic, which also got 25 digs from Austin McDonald.

Coronado 3, Silverado 0 — At Coronado, Max Osmundson posted 11 kills, and Logan Dickover finished with 29 assists and three aces as the Cougars swept the Skyhawks, 25-15, 25-19, 25-14.

Travis Boman added nine kills, and Samuel Cox had 11 digs for Coronado.

Chaparral 3, Canyon Springs 0 — At Chaparral, Matt Sanger had five kills and an ace, and Pierce Morgan added four kills, two aces and a block as the Cowboys swept the Pioneers, 25-20, 25-21, 25-23.

Jesus Botello finished with two aces and four digs for Chaparral.

Michael Winston supplied two kills and two blocks for Canyon Springs, which also got two assists from Evan Anderson and an ace from Dustin Diancin.

Del Sol 3, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Del Sol, Josue Aguirre supplied 11 kills, three aces, a block and a dig to help the Dragons down the Miners, 25-20, 25-27, 25-20, 25-17.

Blane Quitog had nine aces, seven assists, four blocks and four digs for Del Sol, and teammate Jay Peete added six aces and 14 digs.

Tech 3, Durango 2 — At Durango, Tyler Gardenhire had 16 kills as the Roadrunners rallied to down the Trailblazers, 19-25, 25-22, 15-25, 25-17, 15-6.

Joshua Wood and Miguel Garcia each had seven kills for Tech. Wood added 21 assists, and Garcia had 16 digs.

Michael Diggins put down 14 kills for Durango, and teammate Andre Shabazz added 25 assists.

Sierra Vista 3, Clark 1 — At Clark, the Mountain Lions defeated the Chargers 23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-23 despite 14 kills from Walt Benda.

Walter Regalado had 14 assists, and Jose Sahagun added 12 assists for Clark.

Liberty 3, Cheyenne 0 — At Liberty, D.J. Norris notched four kills as the Patriots downed the Desert Shields, 25-14, 25-20, 25-17.
