BOYS TENNIS: Gourrier, Drongensen help Patriots oust Gators

Al Gourrier and Matthew Drongensen went 3-0 in doubles Thursday to help Liberty’s boys tennis team to a 10-8 win over host Green Valley in a Sunrise Region semifinal.

Dylan Ihmels was 3-0 in singles for the Patriots (10-4), who will face Coronado (15-0) for the region title at 5 p.m. Saturday at Darling Tennis Center.

Green Valley finished 11-2.

Coronado 16, Basic 2 — At Coronado, the doubles teams of Jack Vance and Jamie Vance, and Aaron Egbert and Michael Boyd each went 3-0 as the Cougars routed the Wolves (6-5-1) in the other semifinal.

SUNSET REGION

Bishop Gorman 11, Spring Valley 7 — At Gorman, Sam Sholeff and Skylar Davidson each went 2-0 in singles to help the Gaels (13-0) eliminate the Grizzlies (9-3) in a region semifinal.

Jalen Paulos and Joe Connors were 2-0 in doubles for Gorman, which led 10-2 after two rounds. The Gaels will meet Palo Verde (14-0) for the region title at 11 a.m. Saturday at Darling Tennis Center.

Alex Tasaka and Eric Clark were 2-1 in doubles for Spring Valley.

Palo Verde 13, Centennial 5 — At Palo Verde, the Panthers swept the nine singles sets and eliminated the Bulldogs.

Rhett Bossung, Zack Surmacz and Kota Cook each went 3-0 in singles for Palo Verde.

Dallan Johnson and Dakota Trombley were 3-0 in doubles for Centennial (9-4).

DIVISION I-A SOUTHERN REGION

Clark 11, The Meadows 1 — At Clark, Miko Pasimio and Christian Ong each went 2-0 in singles as the Chargers eliminated the Mustangs (9-7) in a region semifinal.

Clark (14-0) will face Faith Lutheran (15-4) in the region final at 5 p.m. Friday at Darling Tennis Center.

Faith Lutheran 14, Moapa Valley 4 — At Overton, the Crusaders swept the nine singles sets and eliminated the Pirates.

Joe Ritorto, Mario Stadtlander and Jack Stevens each went 3-0 in singles for Faith Lutheran.

Koby Frei and Ethan Seely were 2-1 in doubles for Moapa Valley (13-2-1).
