GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Balanced attack helps Grizzlies conquer Sierra Vista

Nicole Rafay had eight kills, and Courtney Lance supplied eight blocks to lead a balanced attack that propelled Spring Valley’s girls volleyball team to a 27-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20 win over visiting Sierra Vista on Thursday.

Rachel Milam added seven kills, and Jessica Rafay had six kills and five blocks for the Grizzlies, which also got 21 digs from Hannah Karas.

Bailey Bergquist paced the Mountain Lions with 17 kills and 12 digs, and teammate Kira Felise added 33 assists and three aces.

Shadow Ridge 3, Arbor View 1 — At Shadow Ridge, Olivia Denny dished out 51 assists as the Mustangs topped the Aggies, 22-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-21.

Ashley Smith put down 26 kills, and Easton Clements added 15 kills for Shadow Ridge.

Jenna McClure had 24 assists, Hannah Goddard supplied 12 kills and six aces, and Tamani Simmons notched eight kills for Arbor View.

Canyon Springs 3, Western 2 — At Western, the Pioneers outlasted the Warriors, 25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 21-25, 15-12.

Destiny Gonzalez had 10 kills and two blocks, and Paea Sovou added 10 assists, three aces and two kills for Western, which got three kills and two aces from Tenaya Williams.

Green Valley 3, Bonanza 0 — At Green Valley, Alley Seidler dished out 30 assists to help lead the Gators to a 25-12, 26-24, 25-20 sweep of the Bengals.

Shana Olsen supplied 15 kills and 10 digs, and Bridgette Dwyer added eight kills for Green Valley.

Sammie Spellman had 15 digs, and Hailey Huntsman contributed 14 assists for Bonanza, which got five kills from Sophie Cram.

Coronado 3, Liberty 0 — At Liberty, Cali Thompson had 34 assists and three aces, and Sydney Hauck added nine kills as the Cougars topped the Patriots, 25-15, 25-15, 26-24.

Emily Bender had seven kills, and Carolyn Andrulis added nine digs for Coronado.

Reid Morgavi had six kills, seven digs and two blocks, and Roza Allen chipped in four kills and three blocks for Liberty.

Basic 3, Eldorado 0 — At Eldorado, Kyla Bohannon had six kills and 19 digs, and Kali Weires had five kills, two aces and four blocks as the Wolves swept the Sundevils, 25-15 25-19, 25-13.

Monica Trillo had four kills and nine digs for Eldorado. Dakota Coombs dished out nine assists, and Mariah Vela had four kills for the Sundevils.

Palo Verde 3, Durango 0 — At Durango, Stephanie Herman dished out 34 assists to help the Panthers to a 25-15, 25-15, 25-14 sweep of the Trailblazers.

Faryn Duncan had 28 digs, and McCall Phillips supplied 14 kills for Palo Verde.

Precious Williams contributed 10 digs and four kills to lead Durango.

Foothill 3, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Christina Beaver had 27 assists, five aces and three digs to help the Falcons to a 25-7, 25-9, 25-14 sweep of the Dragons.

Nicolette White had seven kills and eight assists, and Sarah Dusenbury added four kills and five aces for Foothill.

Sierra Morales finished with 14 digs, and Azhwalaee Oliver added four blocks for Del Sol.

Moapa Valley 3, Chaparral 0 — At Overton, Makenzie Bush had 20 kills to lead the Pirates to a 25-12, 26-24, 25-16 sweep of the Cowboys.

Alex Peterson and Bailey Owens each had nine kills, and Emily Mills added 42 assists for Moapa Valley.

Hannah Kirschbaum had nine kills, and Alejandra Macias added seven assists and 11 digs for Chaparral.

Sunrise Mountain 3, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, Evelyn Lopez had 15 aces, 20 assists and five kills as the Miners swept the Jaguars, 25-17, 25-18, 25-16.

Deanna Manning added six kills and four aces for the Miners.

Boulder City 3, Tech 0 — At Tech, the Eagles were 25-5, 25-13, 25-7 winners over the Roadrunners.
