VOLLEYBALL: Crusaders take third at Nike Tournament of Champions

Cayla Nikodemus had 14 kills Saturday to lead Faith Lutheran's girls volleyball team to a 28-26, 20-25, 16-14 win over Sedona Red Rock (Ariz.) for third place in the Diamond Division of the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix.

Morgan Hill and Courtney Hansen each added eight kills for the Crusaders. Megan Panikkar had 17 assists, and Megan Kronschnabel had 15 assists for Faith Lutheran.

Chandler (Ariz.) 2, Faith Lutheran 0 - Chander beat the Crusaders, 25-21, 25-22 in the Diamond semifinals.

Nikodeums and Hill each had eight kills for Faith Lutheran. Panikkar had eight assists, and Kronschnabel added seven assists for the Crusaders.

Faith Lutheran 2, Northgate (Calif.) 0 - Hansen had nine kills, four aces and four digs as the Crusaders rolled to a 25-12, 25-18 win in their first match of the day.

Nikodemus had seven kills, and Kronschnabel had 10 assists for Faith Lutheran, which got nine assists from Panikkar.
