FLAG FOOTBALL: Morris scores twice to lead Pioneers over Trailblazers

Sydney Morris had touchdown runs of 47 and 45 yards Monday to lead Canyon Springs’ flag football team to a 20-0 win at Durango.

Tea Rivera tossed a 14-yard touchdown pass to Sierra Cummings for the Pioneers.

Amanda Maloney rushed for 70 yards on eight carries for the Trailblazers.

Tech 13, Del Sol 12 — At Green Valley, Kimmie Rodriguez threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Austyn Dziewit and ran for a 1-yard score as the Roadrunners defeated the Dragons.

Rodriguez also connected with Dziewit on the extra point that gave the Roadrunners a 7-6 lead.

Trailing 13-6 late in the game, Del Sol’s Celeste McCaffrey intercepted a pass and returned it 45 yards for a score. However, the Dragons missed the extra point.

Del Sol took an early 6-0 lead on a 10-yard scoring strike from Selena Flores to Lauren Cranor.

Shadow Ridge 26, Rancho 24 — At Shadow Ridge, Joryan Brewer rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns to help the Mustangs rally by the Rams.

Yessinia Ornelas added a TD run for Shadow Ridge, which stopped Rancho late on a fourth-down play from inside the Mustangs’ 20-yard line.

Jennifer Sanchez had nine tackles for Shadow Ridge.

Sierra Vista 27, Green Valley 22 — At Sierra Vista, Jeri Lett threw a touchdown pass, caught a touchdown pass and had a TD run as the Mountain Lions rallied from a 22-13 halftime deficit to beat the Gators.

Neomi Vazques tossed a 15-yard TD pass to Dreah Gaspar and a 16-yard scoring pass to Lett. She also caught Lett’s 40-yard TD pass.

Green Valley’s Morgan Gibson threw three touchdowns. Zoe Delaney hauled in two TD passes, and teammate Kaili Fisher had one TD reception for Green Valley.

The Gators drove to the Sierra Vista 5-yard line late in the game, but came up empty on fourth-and-goal.

Silverado 19, Palo Verde 0 — At Palo Verde, Danielle Parven caught three touchdown passes, and the Skyhawks blanked the Panthers.

Valley 45, Spring Valley 20 — At Spring Valley, Ivanya Garcia scored three touchdowns as the Vikings topped the Grizzlies.

DaNiece Dixon scored two TDs for Valley, which led 39-18 at the half.

Desert Pines 6, Moapa Valley 0 — At Overton, Dulce Suarez caught a 10-yard TD pass in the first half to lift the Jaguars over the Pirates.

Mariah Espinoza rushed for 218 yards for Desert Pines, and Melissa Benford had 40 rushing yards, 10 receiving yards and an interception.

Alondra Diaz also intercepted a pass for the Jaguars.

Cheyenne 6, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Cheyenne, Julyssa Rapaglia’s first-half touchdown accounted for all of the scoring as the Desert Shields edged the Miners.
