BOYS BASKETBALL: Grimes’ double-double lifts Desert Pines over Liberty

Nate Grimes had 17 points and 12 rebounds Tuesday to help Desert Pines’ boys basketball team to a 77-57 home win over Liberty.
Re’meake Keith had 18 points, and Coby Myles scored 14 for the Jaguars, who got 12 points from Capri Uzan.
Tyler Newman paced the Patriots with 24 points, and teammate Elijah Graves scored 14.
Cheyenne 53, Legacy 50 — At Legacy, Jaeln McEaddy had 14 points, and the Desert Shields held off the Longhorns.
Ulises Santillan added 12 points, and Jarrell Bell scored 10 for Cheyenne, which led 27-18 at the half.
Jacob Rainey had 17 points, and Deshaun Hilliard scored 12 for Legacy, which cut the lead to 52-50 with two seconds left. They purposely missed a free throw, but couldn’t grab the rebound. Cheyenne then made 1 of 2 free throws, and the Longhorns failed to get a good look for a potential tying shot.
Sierra Vista 70, Eldorado 66 — At Eldorado, Dominique Marcy led a balanced attack with 15 points and the Lions held off the Sundevils.
Mikko Balmes scored 13 points, and Nino Flores supplied 11 points for Sierra Vista, which trailed 35-33 at halftime.
Jayveon Brown led all scorers with 27 points for Eldorado, which also got 13 points from D’Quan Crockett and 10 points from Arthur Price.
Centennial 81, Palo Verde 71 — At Centennial, Garrett Scheer scored 20 points, and Eddie Davis provided 17 points and 14 rebounds as the Bulldogs beat the Panthers.
Troy Brown had 11 points, 13 rebounds and six assists, and Khalil Thompson supplied 10 points and seven assists for Centennial, which also got 10 points for Rayquan Stewart.
Braxton Richards and Billy Sparks scored 16 points apiece for Palo Verde. Chase Ruiz had 11 points, and Ja Morgan added 10 points for Palo Verde.
Faith Lutheran 53, Virgin Valley 52 — At Faith Lutheran, Michael Holthus scored 13 points, and the Crusaders hung on to edge the Bulldogs.
Faith Lutheran trailed 32-26 at the half before outscoring Virgin Valley 17-4 in the third quarter.
Virgin Valley made two free throws with seven seconds left to trim the lead to 53-52 and fouled Faith Lutheran. The Crusaders missed both free throws, got the rebound, were fouled again, missed two more shots, and grabbed another rebound as time expired.
Garrett Leavitt hit four 3-pointers in the first half and finished with 21 points for Virgin Valley.
Basic 55, Chaparral 47 — At Chaparral, Chandler Kamai scored 16 points to lead the Wolves by the Cowboys.
Antraye Johnson added 11 points for Basic, which jumped out to a 21-8 first quarter lead.
Tyree McNeal led Chaparral with 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists, and teammate Charles Miller added 11 points.
Moapa Valley 54, Mountain View 40 — At Overton, Andrew Huerta scored 16 points to guide the Pirates by the Saints.
Lance Hilton added 13 points for Moapa Valley, which jumped out to a 23-15 halftime lead.
Connor LeBoeuf scored 15 points, and Kevin Gray had 12 points for Mountain View.
Lake Mead 45, Pahranagat Vallley 44 — At Alamo, Drew Ramos scored 10 points and hit the winning free throw with one second remaining to lift the Eagles over the Panthers.
Dylan Graham led Lake Mead with 13 points, and Brendon LeBaron added 10 points.
Jake Carter finished with 18 points for Pahranagat Valley, which also got 11 points from Jordan Cryts.
Laughlin 58, Spring Mountain 28 — At Laughlin, Corey Anderson had 20 points and 10 assists to lead the Cougars past the Eagles.
Brett Smith added 18 points, 15 rebounds and 10 steals for Laughlin, which led 23-9 at halftime.
Calvary Chapel 54, Adelson School 48 — At Adelson School, Quentin Hank scored 17 points to lead Calvary Chapel to victory.
Matthew Harney added 12 points for Calvary Chapel, which used a 21-10 first-quarter spurt to pull away.
Jake Buchman had 16 points, and Sean Perry supplied 11 points for Adelson School.
