FLAG FOOTBALL: Rivera fuels Pioneers’ rout of Miners

Tea Rivera ran for two scores and tossed three touchdown passes Tuesday to lead Canyon Springs’ flag football team to a 31-7 win at Sunrise Mountain.

Rivera scored on two runs of 5 yards each and completed TD passes of 8 and 30 yards to Amaya Youngblood, and 15 yards to Jhouriel Harrison-Sanchez. Rivera completed 7 of 12 passes for 116 yards. Arielle Strong added 128 yards on 17 carries for the Pioneers.

Shyloh Lucero had a rushing TD for the Miners.

Tech 20, Chaparral 13 — At Green Valley, the Roadrunners answered the Cowboys’ opening touchdown with 20 straight points to earn the victory.

Kimmie Rodriguez threw a 14-yard touchdown strike to Yadira Sanchez, and added a 7-yard TD run to give Tech a 14-7 lead. Jan Danica Briones had a 22-yard TD run to push the Roadrunners’ lead to 20-7.

Neshaune Franklin supplied a 20-yard TD rush just before halftime for Chaparral, which got on the board with a 4-yard TD pass from Hali Tripplett to Selena Rosas.

Silverado 18, Las Vegas 12 — At Las Vegas, the Skyhawks scored a touchdown as time expired to nip the Wildcats.

Kali Brockett was 11-for-16 passing, including a touchdown to Zoey Thomas. Mackenzie McCoy added a rushing TD for Las Vegas.

Cheyenne 26, Durango 7 — At Cheyenne, Girly Tambeagbor scored two first-half touchdowns to lead the Desert Shields by the Trailblazers.

Julyssa Rapaglia and Maxine Crum each added a touchdown for Cheyenne.

Meleesamaree Areizaga had Durango’s touchdown.

Shadow Ridge 34, Spring Valley 20 — At Shadow Ridge, Joryan Brewer rushed for 220 yards and 4 TDs on 12 carries as the Mustangs rolled past the Grizzlies.

Yessinia Ornelas added 125 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries for Shadow Ridge, which outscored Spring Valley 14-0 in the second half.

Aubery Hall added two interceptions and six tackles for the Mustangs.

Sierra Vista 19, Palo Verde 7 — At Palo Verde, Anye Drummond rushed for two touchdowns as the Mountain Lions downed the Panthers.

Jeri Lett added a rushing touchdown for Sierra Vista.

Daniesha Clayton rushed for a score for Palo Verde.

Green Valley 34, Desert Pines 6 — At Desert Pines, Morgan Gibson threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns as the Gators downed the Jaguars.

Kayla Anderson rushed for a touchdown and caught three passes for 101 yards and a TD, and Karli Fisher had three receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown for Green Valley. Ryann Moyer provided eight tackles and two interceptions for the Gators.

Mariyah Espinoza rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, and Meilssa Benford added 84 yards on 12 carries for Desert Pines.
