VOLLEYBALL: Austin, Wolves outlast Diamondbacks

Kim Austin had 12 kills, eight blocks and seven digs Monday to help Basic’s girls volleyball team outlast visiting Desert Oasis, 22-25, 25-12, 25-17, 23-25, 17-15.
Kali Weires had 11 kills, nine digs and two blocks, and C.J. Kelley supplied 33 assists, five digs, three blocks, two kills and two aces for the Wolves. Lynsie Udall added 33 digs and four aces for Basic.
Cheyenne 3, Del Sol 2 — At Cheyenne, Endia Mack had 11 kills, and Ebony Cavaco added seven kills and 13 assists as the Desert Shields rallied from a two-set deficit to beat the Dragons, 22-25, 16-25, 25-15, 25-22, 15-9.
Alyceion McDowell supplied three kills and seven aces for Cheyenne.
Taylor Curtis led Del Sol with nine kills and 15 assists. Azhwalaee Oliver added 12 kills and 12 blocks for the Dragons, while teammates Christy Patinio (39 digs) and Sierra Morales (36 digs) led the defense.
Durango 3, Valley 0 — At Durango, Trea Ortega had 11 kills and six digs to help the Trailblazers to a 25-15, 25-15, 25-15 sweep of the Vikings.
Carly Taylor had 27 assists, and Precious Williams had 10 digs and three aces for Durango.
Taylor Sandhu had nine assists, four aces and two kills, and Gabby Cabanero added six kills for Valley, which got 21 digs from Liza Aperacho.
Pahrump Valley 3, Word of Life 0 — At Pahrump, Payton Hart had six kills, and Shayla Dance finished with four kills and eight assists as the Trojans overwhelmed the Eagles, 25-9, 25-2, 25-7.
