BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Emilio Sigala, Jaguars top Virgin Valley

Emilio Sigala won a 2.9-mile race in 17 minutes, 36 seconds Tuesday to help Desert Pines’ boys cross country team to a 25-34 victory over Virgin Valley at Freedom Park.

Mateo Sigala took third for the Jaguars in 18:11.

Virgin Valley placed three runners in the top five. Clancy Leavitt was second in 17:57, Gernando Gonzalez was fourth (18:41), followed by Jacob Zinsky in fifth at 19:39 for the Bulldogs.

Mustangs roll past Grizzlies

At Shadow Ridge, the Mustangs took the top six spots on the way to a 15-48 win over Spring Valley.

David Peters won the 3.1-mile race in 16:43, followed by Nick Oberdin (17:21) and Jonathan Blaine (18:13).

Cougars cruise past Liberty

At Sonata Park, Colin Schaefer won a 2.8-mile race in 16:01.5, and Coronado snagged four of the top five spots to earn a 19-42 win over Liberty.

Sterling Saltz was second for the Cougars in 16:53.2. Teammates Xavier Cummings (17:18.9) and Zach Kaufman (17:20.3) were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Alex Grant was third in 17:09.7 for the Patriots.

Panthers take tri-meet

At Floyd Lamb Park, Noah Landers won a 2.6-mile race in 14:07 to lead Palo Verde to victory in a three-team meet.

The Panthers finished with 16 points to beat Durango (47) and The Meadows (85).

Palo Verde’s Andrew Goldsmith (14:32) was second, followed by teammate Pedro Rios (14:41).

Chargers hold off Warriors

At Western, Flimon Fre finished second in the 3-mile race in 19:02 to lift Clark to a 22-35 win over the Warriors.

Charles Bennion took third in 19:09 for the Chargers, and teammate Shane Cashin was fourth in 19:13.

Western’s Carlos Cerda won the race in 19:02. Luis Lopez was fifth for the Warriors, crossing the line in 20:22.

Bulldogs ease past Diamondbacks

At Centennial, Jackson Carter won the 3.1-mile race in 17:31.2, and the Bulldogs snagged four of the top five places to roll to an 18-41 victory over Desert Oasis.

Seth Wright was second for Centennial with a time of 18:00.8. Teammate Spencer Day was fourth in 18:36.3, and Brian Espino finished fifth for the Bulldogs in 19:06.

Frankie Martinez was the Diamondbacks’ top runner, taking third in 18:26.5.

Gators top Vikings

At Valley, Austin Rogers won a 3.1-mile race in 17:24.2 to lead Green Valley to a 16-47 win over the Vikings.

Edgar Narciso was second in 17:33.1 for the Gators, followed by teammates Derrick Sumner (17:40.1) and Jake Braverman (17:45.8). Valley’s Josh Nyberg was fifth in 17:48.5.

Comish, Aggies top Mountain Lions

At Floyd Lamb Park, Arbor View’s Jordan Comish won the 2.6-mile race in 15:02, and the Aggies took the top 13 spots to beat Sierra Vista, 15-50.

Cole Jones was second in 15:13, followed by Jason Gallo (15:16), Cory Chatterton (15:20) and Will Teel (15:21).
