BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Legacy’s depth too much for Cimarron

Luis Cuevas led three Legacy runners in the top five as the Longhorns defeated host Cimarron-Memorial 21-40 in boys cross country on Tuesday.
Cuevas was second in the 2.75-mile race in 17 minutes, 7 seconds. Teammate Romone Frias was third in 17:13, and Kelly Rife finished fourth in 17:24 for the Longhorns.
Cimarron’s Nicolas Gonzalez won the race in 16:32.
Cougars run past Del Sol
At Coronado, the Cougars took the top eight and 16 of the top 18 spots in a 15-50 win over Del Sol.
Colin Schaefer won the 2.8-mile race in 16:24. Sterling Saltz was second in 16:35, one second ahead of teammate Xavier Cummins.
Pahrump tops Cheyenne
At Cheyenne, the Desert Shields took the top two places, but the Trojans had the next three runners across the finish line to beat the Desert Shields, 25-36.
Cheyenne’s Marcus Vellinga won the 2.65-mile race in 16:30, followed by teammate Travis Richards in 17:12.
Pahrump Valley’s Devon Montgomery was third in 17:32, followed by teammates Shane Webber (17:37), and Jacob Stearns (18:33).
Aggies nip Mustangs in three-team meet
At Shadow Ridge, Cole Jones won the 2.95-mile race in 15:43, and Arbor View edged the host Mustangs 27-28 in a race that also included a select team of runners from Australia.
David Peters of Shadow Ridge was second in 16:07, with teammate Nick Oberdin third (16:28).
Arbor View’s Jordan Comish was fourth in 16:51
Tech wins four-team meet
At Overton, Martin Ponce won a 3.1-mile race in 18:23 to help Tech win a four-team meet.
The Roadrunners had a team score of 20 points to top Virgin Valley (51), Lincoln County (92) and Moapa Valley (136).
Tech’s Garrett Meyer was second in 18:53, followed by Virgin Valley’s Ty Rappleye in 19:23.
Panthers too much for Sierra Vista
At Palo Verde, Pedro Rios won a 3.1-mile race in 17:25, and Palo Verde runners took the top 13 spots in a 15-50 win over Sierra Vista.
The Panthers' Andrew Goldsmith was second in 18:30, one second ahead of teammate Noah Landers.
