Outlook: The Cougars have some work to do after losing five of the seven members of last season’s Sunrise Region championship squad.
Schaefer placed eighth in the region, and Saltz took ninth last year.
“The boys are young and have to work hard to have a chance to make it to state,” Tondryk said.
Standout performers from Shadow Ridge, Desert Oasis and Faith Lutheran highlight the All-Southern Nevada boys cross country team.
Shadow Ridge took home the Class 5A state cross country titles Saturday in Boulder City, and Desert Oasis’ Kenan Dagge claimed the individual title.

Last season ended in disappointing fashion for The Meadows’ tennis program after the boys and girls teams lost in the state finals, but both will get another chance this week.
The individual and doubles boys state tennis tournament began Monday and ends Friday. State tournaments also are scheduled for girls tennis and girls golf.
Faith Lutheran’s girls golf team made the 5A state tournament this year and believes it has a legitimate shot to win it all.
The playoff races in boys and girls high school tennis in Southern Nevada are heating up, and the girls golf postseason is about to begin as well.
