Outlook: The Pioneers welcome back only five starters, but one of those is Martinez, who was the Northeast League player of the year and scored 30 goals last season.

“Martinez exploded last year, but is now a known entity, so teams will key on him,” Myers said.

Canyon Springs lost eight seniors to graduation, but is hoping to get back to the postseason after qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in school history last year.

“The team is solid and should come together well to compete for a playoff spot,” Myers said.
