SOFTBALL: Zufall powers Crusaders to Sunset League crown

Kelly Zufall went 3-for-3 with a double, a run and three RBIs Thursday to help Faith Lutheran’s softball team clinch the Sunset League title with a 12-6 home win over Clark.

Mandy Young supplied two hits and three RBIs, and Vanessa Valdez provided two hits and three runs for the Crusaders.

Raven Tomlinson was 4-for-5 with a double, a triple and an RBI to lead the Chargers.

Sunrise Mountain 12, Tech 10 — At Sunrise Mountain, Karla Ramirez hit a bases-clearing double as a part of an eight-run fourth inning as the Miners outlasted the Roadrunners.

Ramirez finished 2-for-2 with the three RBIs. Jessica Gomez was 3-for-3, and Brittany Miller went 2-for-3  for Sunrise Mountain.

Jordyn Roark was 2-for-3 with a double, and Kimmie Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a double for Tech. Teammate Emmalyne Laymon added two hits.

Mojave 9, Pahrump Valley 8 — At Mojave, Jazmine Almendarez scored on a passed ball with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh to help the Rattlers edge the Trojans.

Emily Rivas singled home Danette Daguiar with the tying run earlier in the inning. Daguiar also homered for Mojave.

Rancho 6, Valley 0 — At Rancho, Aly Lamboo threw a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts to help the Rams blank the Vikings.

Brandy Marlett had a double and an RBI for the Rams.

Palo Verde 13, Shadow Ridge 2 — At Shadow Ridge, Breanna Beatty went 3-for-5 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs, and Rachel Williams was 4-for-5 with two doubles to help the Panthers down the Mustangs.

Melissa Lacro was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and an RBI, and Brooke Stover went 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs for Palo Verde.

Leizel Rivera went 2-for-3 for Shadow Ridge.

Arbor View 15, Spring Valley 2 — At Arbor View, Kayla Stephens went 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Aggies over the Grizzlies in five innings.

Karli Lehr was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs, and Adrianne Drewniak went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs for the Aggies, who used a 12-run fourth to put the game away.

Georgi DeLio and Ellie Endsley each had a double and an RBI for Spring Valley.

Durango 16, Sierra Vista 6 — At Sierra Vista, the Trailblazers put up an eight-run first inning en route to a five-inning win over the Mountain Lions.

Cheyanne Haas, Kaitlyn O’Hearn, Mallory Lawson, and Cat Smith each supplied two hits for Durango.

Angel Love belted a solo homer, and Adrianna Somerville had two hits for Sierra Vista.

Silverado 26, Canyon Springs 3 — At Canyon Springs, Ari Monturio went 3-for-6 with a home run and seven RBIs as the Skyhawks blitzed the Pioneers in five innings.

Riana Splinter went 3-for-5 with two home runs, a triple and six RBIs, and Jessica Chamberlain was 2-for-3 with a double and five RBIs for the Skyhawks, who scored 11 runs in the third inning.

Ali Givens was 1-for-1 with two runs for the Pioneers.

Cheyenne 19, Western 1 — At Cheyenne, Vanessa Sanders went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, three runs and nine RBIs to help the Desert Shields rout the Warriors in five innings.

Mireya Gonzalez finished 2-for-2 with a double, four RBIs and a run, and Megan Ingram went 4-for-4 with three runs and an RBI for Cheyenne.

Cierra White was 2-for-2 and scored a run for Western.
