BASEBALL: Burdett’s bat helps Sierra Vista silence Thunder

Tyler Burdett went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead Sierra Vista’s baseball team to a 6-3 home win over Desert Hills (Utah) on Saturday.
Burdett also pitched two scoreless innings to earn a save.
Nolan Kingham went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Mountain Lions, who scored four runs in the bottom of the first.
Spring Valley 4, Desert Oasis 2 — At Spring Valley, Josh Durazo went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and the Grizzlies rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to top the Diamondbacks.
Bryan Bierlein was 1-for-1 with an RBI for Spring Valley.
Cody Schmidt went 2-for-4 with two doubles for Desert Oasis.
Liberty 8, Desert Hills (Utah) 3 — At Liberty, Ethan Ibarra went 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs, and five Liberty pitchers combined on a six-hitter as the Patriots downed the Thunder.
Chris Bradford was 2-for-2, and Josh McCollum and Jesse Keiser each went 2-for-4 for Liberty.
Zac Ivie homered for Desert Hills.
Las Vegas 14, Durango 4 — At Las Vegas, Dameiko Mack went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to help the Wildcats to the six-inning win.
Jose Sanchez and Eddie Ojeda each added two hits for Las Vegas.
Anthony Parry was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Durango.
Coronado 15, Faith Lutheran 1 — At Faith Lutheran, Julian Burrola went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBIs to help the Cougars to the six-inning win.
James Anderson was 3-for-3, and Brad Fogal and Michael Pollex each went 2-for-4 for Coronado. Pollex drove in four runs, and Fogal had a run and three RBIs.
