SOFTBALL: Perez’s double lifts Desert Shields past Rattlers

Taylor Perez’s two-out double in the bottom of the sixth inning Monday plated Vanessa Sanders with the deciding run as Cheyenne’s softball team edged visiting Mojave, 9-8.
Cheyenne led 8-2 after two innings, but the Rattlers rallied with six runs in the top of the sixth.
Sanders led off the bottom of the sixth with a walk and stole second before advancing to third on a wild pitch. Two outs later, Perez collected the winning hit.
Perez and winning pitcher Alyssa Fata each went 2-for-3 for the Desert Shields.
Ashley Persico was 3-for-4 with a double for Mojave.
Rancho 10, Canyon Springs 0 — At Rancho, Aly Lamboo tossed a five-inning perfect game as the Rams downed the Pioneers.
Lamboo struck out 12 of the 15 hitters she faced and got three groundouts.
Brandy Marlett was 2-for-2 with a home run, and McKinzi Vega went 2-for-3 for Rancho.
Durango 8, Spring Valley 5 — At Spring Valley, Cheyanne Haas’s two-run single sparked a three-run rally in the top of the 11th inning to lead the Trailblazers by the Grizzlies.
Durango trailed 5-3 entering the seventh, but scored twice in the inning with the tying runs coming on an error.
Haas was 3-for-6 for Durango.
Georgi DeLio was 1-for-1 with a two-run home run and five walks, and Normandie Kniola went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Spring Valley.
Palo Verde 3, Arbor View 1 — At Palo Verde, Rachael Turner went 1-for-3 with two RBIs as the Panthers had just three hits, but bunched them all in the fourth inning of a win over the Aggies.
Karli Lehr went 2-for-4 for Arbor View.
Las Vegas 10, Valley 0 — At Valley, Kristina Nelson spun a two-hitter and struck out 14 to guide the Wildcats by the Vikings.
Brooke Booth was 3-for-4 with a run for Las Vegas.
Shadow Ridge 12, Sierra Vista 2 — At Shadow Ridge, Kayla Sutherland went 3-for-3 with a triple and a double, and Sarah Pinkston went 2-for-4 with two triples and an RBI to help the Mustangs top the Mountain Lions in six innings.
Brianna Manning went 2-for-2 with two runs, and Jojo Brewer was 2-for-3 for Shadow Ridge, which also got a home run from winning pitcher Tana Feiner.
Faith Lutheran 13, Western 0 — At Western, Amanda Young doubled twice and drove in three runs, and Kelly Zufall was 3-for-4 with a double, three stolen bases and an RBI in the Crusaders’ five-inning win over the Warriors.
Lauryn Lipe doubled and had three RBIs, and teammate Lili Bonora went 2-for-4 for the Crusaders.
Stacie Graham allowed three hits and struck out six, and also went 2-for-3 for Faith Lutheran.
Pahrump Valley 14, Clark 1 — At Clark, Katelyn Button had a triple, three runs and two RBIs to lead the Trojans past the Chargers.
Mallory Cole finished 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs for the Trojans.
Jackielyn Gaona went 2-for-3 for Clark.
Tech 22, Del Sol 5 — At Del Sol, Jordyn Roark was 5-for-5 with a double and six RBIs as the Roadrunners routed the Dragons in five innings.
Kimmie Rodriguez also doubled for Tech, which scored 12 times in the second inning.
Rudie-Armida Soria-Bailey was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Del Sol.
