TRACK: Carroll, Valley boys nip Skyhawks

Arphaxad Carroll won three individual events on Tuesday to help Valley’s boys track team edge visiting Silverado, 73-72.

Carroll won the 100-meter dash in 11.0 seconds, took the long jump with a mark of 22 feet, 3 inches, and posted a distance of 46-5 to win the triple jump.

Valley’s Brian Nash added wins in the 110 hurdles (16.1) and the 300 hurdles (42.5).

Silverado’s Jonathan Aman also won three events placing first in the 400 (53.2), 800 (2:12.1) and 1,600 (4:39.4).

Ryan Contorelli won the shot put (35-10) and discus (130-0) for the Skyhawks.

GIRLS

Kennedy Wharton and Jayla Stevenson-Collins each won two events to help Valley to a 94-47 win over visiting Silverado.

Wharton won the 200 (26.0) and high jump (5-1). Stevenson-Collins took the shot put (32-10) and discus (102-5).

Silverado’s Amari Norris won the 100 hurdles (15.9) and 300 hurdles (48.6).
